Possible next gen Madden this fall

Remember the teaser trailer back in 2005? With the rumors on next gen consoles, it possible there could be a new madden for next gen consoles. What are your thoughts and predictions? Can EA turn it around and deliver a sold football experience. Hopefully the new hardware can help make it easier for programming sim football. I remember last time EA kept on showing hgh res screen shots focusing on stitching on jerseys.

Fall I wouldn't count it out, but it would be telling to have a PS4/720 Madden ready for the fall if they are really focusing all their attention on the current Madden. Those who line up at midnight every year should hope that this isn't the case...that would mean Madden 14 is the after thought and more attention was paid to the next gen system. This was my conspiracy theory way before Madden 13 so I'm not the right nut to ask this question to.

This is very selfish of me but I sure hope they ignore M14 on the current consoles and put everything into a stellar Madden M14 for the new ones. The sooner we can put the last going on 9 years behind us the better. I am on a very tight budget (read no money) but if they manage to somehow release a solid Madden football game on the new consoles, I will find a way to upgrade systems.

I really don't have anything against EA or the Madden brand, it's just this current gen version has been a hot mess. I will gladly embrace EA's Madden on new consoles IF it's actually a good football game. I think Madden on these consoles is a lost cause and they should just let it go. Reminds me of this episode of American Dad, lol.

Unless they start over, Madden is going to keep on sucking. This same engine crap just won't cut it.

I truly hope not.

M13 is my favorite Madden since 2005, and with a few tweaks - mostly adding lost features - I would be very happy with the game.

I don't think a development group with divided attention could possibly be good.

Just to make sure you are not overlooking this, but they gave us a new engine this year.

A new physics engine, wasn't it? Isn't there still a good chunk of last gen in there?

I doubt it. Realistically it would be '15. Also moving on to the next gen doesn't mean we'll get a better game. Hell it could be an even bigger mess. One could argue that Madden took huge steps back when it moved up generations last time.

Our son is leaving for college and he just might pack up the 360 and take it with him. That would leave us without Madden until the new consoles come out, so, whatever.

EA is NOT gonna pass up a new console launch like this, anyone remember madden 06 on the 360 with mcnabb on the cover?

I hope its not as barebones as that game was!

Wii U Madden 13 was a stripped-down failure. That's basically the Madden 06 of this coming generation. Since the Sony and Micro$oft consoles won't be out yet by 8/27, it's safe to say that Wii U will be the main platform EA develops for.

I can't wait to see what they do for the next generation, because it will truly let us know if they have what it takes to make the type of game alot of us have been missing. I'm more interested in the 2nd or 3rd game on the next generation because they will have had time to get a grip on the console and flesh out some ideas. If the game is still sub par/terrible, then I'll know there's really no hope.

Interesting post Sage, so let me ask you and others something. Presumably FIFA, The Show and NBA2k will be releasing on these new consoles too, do you expect them to take until the 2nd or 3rd edition to be solid?

I think that's a fair question because I don't think I expect those games to fall off that much, even in the first edition on the new consoles. I believe next-gen Madden is no where near as solid as those games currently but is that a reason for the first edition of Madden on the new consoles to not be a considerable upgrade from what we have now?

Those are serious questions too, I am not leading into something, I really want to hear about others expectations of Madden on the new consoles. Will people once again be stating things like "it's early", "give them 3 years", "Rome wasn't built in a day", blah, blah. If that is a realistic expectation for how things will likely go, that sounds like a complete repeat of this console gen, for at least the next 3 years of the next consoles. That thought is depressing as hell, unless it somehow includes the end to the NFL exclusive. If not and EA is still the only company allowed to make NFL games, along with us having to wait around three more editions to finally get a solid football game, I just don't know what to say.
