I think that's a fair question because I don't think I expect those games to fall off that much, even in the first edition on the new consoles. I believe next-gen Madden is no where near as solid as those games currently but is that a reason for the first edition of Madden on the new consoles to not be a considerable upgrade from what we have now?

Those are serious questions too, I am not leading into something, I really want to hear about others expectations of Madden on the new consoles. Will people once again be stating things like "it's early", "give them 3 years", "Rome wasn't built in a day", blah, blah. If that is a realistic expectation for how things will likely go, that sounds like a complete repeat of this console gen, for at least the next 3 years of the next consoles. That thought is depressing as hell, unless it somehow includes the end to the NFL exclusive. If not and EA is still the only company allowed to make NFL games, along with us having to wait around three more editions to finally get a solid football game, I just don't know what to say.
I think the '3 year plan' Cam had in mind was all about having a solid game in place for the next gen consoles. With that being said if Madden 25 doesn't have significantly improved AI and player movement then I will have lost hope for this franchise. No more excuses it's time to put up or shut up.

Well the thing is imo those games are already solid. It's the same as when they entered this current gen(excluding FIFA I think). They didn't really hit their stride though until about the 2nd or 3rd edition on the current consoles, but they were definitely solid. I feel like anything Madden puts out on the next gen SHOULD be ALOT better than what we have now. Features should just be the main problem, we should be able to see the true potential though. If we can't, I think that should be a cause for concern or a justified loss of hope.

Truthfully looking back, when we all saw how Madden 07 turned out we should've bailed then, lol. Now we have had a serious change in direction since then, but the quality still isn't up to par. Hopefully that changes with the next generation.

We should see things like proper fundamentals, animations and techniques in the first edition of next gen Madden. We should see SOMETHING. I mean I remember playing Madden 2001 on PS2 and basically being blown away at how much better it was then the PS1 edition(As far as visuals, gameplay, animations). So we saw the initial potential there and it was built upon. Not as much as it should've been, but that's why I think the last gen Madden's are so heralded because the 1st edition was a good start. Madden 06 was a bomb on 360. Just a terrible start, so it really set the standard of what we were going to get. Hopefully they've learned from their mistakes and we have a Madden comparable to the PS2/Xbox generation. Tiburon has no other choice for someone like me. If I don't see it when the game is released, I'm gone. I try to learn from my mistakes and not keep repeating them.

Re: Possible next gen Madden this fall

I swear I want them to take out onside kicks!

I cant stand it anymore man, this is ruining games like max protect does. I'm getting tired of these shortcoming making others invincible in these games all because EA wont address this crap. I wont stand for it next gen and my solution would be to take it out of the game period!

No more onside kicking, kicking high into the conrner near midfield so you can get a good hitstick, nothing, just left, right, middle and kick the ball.

Ray Lewis just picked off Vernon Davis Deep into the endzone, and the ball was lobbed and VD ran right by him and all of a sudden he leaps 5-6yds away from VD and you can see VD stretching his arms out for the ball as the ball was over thrown but gets picked off underneath. Yea something is really wrong here and im sick and tired of the hand holding in this game. Just hold Triangle and you will pick off anypass thrown in your vicinity ! ughhh this is crazy, how can a dev feel good about this stuff man. Just one more week and its all over and I can tackle my backlog and put madden on the dust shelf!

How do you recover EVERY ONSIDE KICK? This is whats going on now and people are using it to win games as you will never see the ball again. WOW!

rant, im sorry, just nex gen dont be like this, be the bigger madden please!

I get that but I am asking is it unreasonable to therefore expect the first Madden on the new consoles to have everything available on these consoles and more? So M14 on the new consoles should do everything M14 on the current ones can, better and maybe even throw in things like active sidelines, practice squads, expanded presentation and any number of things that have been claimed to be limited by the power/RAM of the current consoles.

My concern is with EA Tiburon starting off the newest console gen using many of the same excuses used this gen. Think about how disappointing it would be to finally get a Madden football game on PS4/720 at the same level with other PS3/360 sports sims, while those titles greatly surpass that on the new consoles. There is a post from AJ when he worked for EA Tiburon, that basically stated Madden could accomplish everything other video games had, given the time. That suggests to me that the limitations of the current consoles wasn't why Madden has been what it is, it was other factors that needed time to be worked out. I wonder if those things have been changed and if not, how can the new Madden be much different than what we have already experienced?

Now I am not suggesting anyone from EA Tiburon go through all the trouble of trying to explain any new time saving technology or programming techniques they have implemented into creating the game. What I am wondering is that if Madden on the new consoles kickoffs as barebones and far behind other sports sims as it did in 2005, is that a good indicator of more of the same, without needing to wait for a 2nd or 3rd edition?

My thing is Madden on next gen should feel and look like a brand new experience. For me it's expected that some things should be missing feature wise, but on the field it should be a totally new experience, and we should only miss those off the field features. On the field we should never want or need to go back to the last generation.

Big FN I have read your posts here for some time and I have a great amount of respect for your opinion and the amount of thought that you put into sharing your opinions and ideas. Having said that....I think you've finally snapped.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. -Albert Einstein.

Look at the primary complaints of the hardcore Madden gamer over the last decade +. Motion, OL/DL interaction, twitchy movement, CPU GM logic, franchise depth, franchise immersion, basic fundamental football sense and reactions by the players. I would say that I became a serious Madden player when Madden 99 came out on PC. These were the complaints about the game then. Do they sound familiar?

How far have we really come? Excluding all graphics....how much significant improvement has Madden seen in the core fundamentals of gameplay in the last 10 years? Movement is better...it's more fluid...and I think most of the morphing/warping is gone. However, my backs get tackled by my OL, suction blocking and tackling does still exist, kickers can block elite DE's, average WRs can beat elite CB's, Safeties can't take a proper angle even when a ball carrier runs a straight line....etc, etc.

GM logic is improved but we still RGIII, Luck and others in FA. The CPU has massive salary cap problems.

EA has spent at least 13 years phasing in and out worthless "features" and "innovations" but really hasn't delved into the core gameplay issues with any real seriousness. The actual improvements to this game when viewed in their entirety over the last decade+ have been minimal.

EA does a masterful job of selling us on the "steps" and "processes" of improvement as well as using dev team overhauls as indicators of a brighter future without ever delivering any true substance.

I think about the hype surrounding IE, PROTAK, and other innovations and how excited I was....and then I think about whats really and fundamentally wrong with the game...and I realize that nothing really got fixed. I get mad....the hype for the game starts...and I believe. Insane.

At what point do we have to face that EA has ruined this game, has made little real effort to achieve excellence, and has no real intention of doing so in the near future? And yes, I'll probably buy M14.

Snipped it to save space but I 100% feel you. Your post reads a lot like discussions I have with myself in my mind. I pretty much post about Madden and football gaming at this point because that's all I have left, seeing as I don't enjoy playing the game. I have considered going out to buy NCAA 13 and finding a true coach mode league to get my fix. I can say for sure that I will not be buying M14 on these consoles unless around October people who's impressions I trust somehow convince me it's an entirely new football game. However, I will gladly try it on the new consoles just to play something different. Man I am so fed up with next gen Madden at this point, I just want something different, with a NFL license.

To understand how much of a vice football gaming is/was for me, me and a cousin bought the 3DO system when it first dropped just to try out Madden on a new system. I also got a Dreamcast when they first dropped to try out NFL2k, had to have an original Xbox so i could see the video replays on 2k5 and got the 360 for M06. So getting new gaming consoles, that I really can't afford, to try out new football games is my MO, lol.

You know you've had enough Madden when your time here discussing "what if", legacy issues, 3 year plans, improvements and the future replaces your time playing the game. I feel you.

Re: Possible next gen Madden this fall

I was just wondering if CCM, namely the XP system, will likely carry over to Madden on the new consoles. If so, that pretty much seals it for me that the career mode on new consoles will be unrealistic. I am slowly coming to the understanding that deep lasting NFL gaming is dead for me unless this exclusive ends.

It's late, late night on Super Bowl eve and I just happened to come to the realization that much of what is in Madden now, as well as what remains to be seen for M14, will most likely carry over to Madden on the new consoles. While there may be some chance of things like player movement, OL/DL play getting "addressed" this year and things they claim can't be done due to limitations of the current consoles added on new consoles, what about the stuff they think isn't broke. Things like "throw a receiver open", ratings, preplay adjustments, challenge system, game pace and XP progression, just to name a few.

I really see what Roll2tide was referring to now.

I hope not, remember how bad Madden 06 was on Xbox360. If they release Madden 14 on the next gen consoles this year then Im afraid it will be the same old game with updated graphics. EA needs to stop being greedy, take their time to make a decent football game and just release Madden 15 on the next gen consoles.
