International Job: USA Best Squad... Talent to look for?

I finally got offered the USA International job! When picking my squad it left a lot to be desired though. I understand there is less talent in the USA so I understand the lack of depth.

SO.... I started this thread to discuss the USA International Team and it's talent pool. For my first March game I left the squad as is however I want to know if anyone has found a lower rated overall player worth adding to the main squad to develop.

So any suggestions on talent that may not be apparent in year 1 that I should consider adding to the main squad?

I ended up scouting the US heavily for talent to build the national team up. was able to get some awesome players upfront and midfield. I did win the '18 world cup so all that effort did not go to waste.

as far as players go, i was looking at most of those players on your list, in my cm only shea developed decently, everyone else I got from scouting.

So your international teams have scouts as well?

You should be able to build a decent squad around Dempsey, Bradley, Howard and Altidore. Guys like Shea, Chandler, Omar Gonzalez, Tim Ream, Daniel Williams
and Fabian Johnson should become regular caps soon enough.

You nailed it with a lot of those players. I'd also like to add Juan Agudelo, Josh Gatt, John Anthony Brooks, Joseph-Claude Gyau, Eric Lichaj and Connor Lade. All great players

No, make your club scouts look for players in the United States. Then you can develop them to the point where they're regular players for the international squad

If you need a guy with good pace you could look up Leyva from FC Dallas. I think he only gets to the mid/upper 70's, but all his speed ratings are 95+ for me.

Edit: Nevermind. I can't find him on the roster since they released him. Not to mention he is from Mexico.

Re: International Job: USA Best Squad... Talent to look for?

Is anyone else seeing huge drops in overall after their first season? In my career Howard went from 81 to 76 and Bocanegra/Cherundolo both went from 73 to 67. Donovan dropped from 81 to 77. I understand that they will get worse over time, but this is a bit ridiculous.

In terms of potential, Luis Gil, Omar Gonzalez, and Eric Lichaj really progressed for me. Gil went from 65 to a 69, Gonzalez from 71 to 76, and Lichaj from 69 to 72. I think Omar Salgado also really improved. Shea only increased his overall by 2 points and Agudelo and Diskerud only went up by 1.

The lack of depth and quality youth players makes managing the US quite the challenge.

How many stars was the US rated when you took over?

Re: International Job: USA Best Squad... Talent to look for?

Fun question! You guys have already nailed most of the guys who develop. I'm currently in March 2018 on my career mode with USA/Bolton. I did some USA scouting early on in my career mode, but none recently because I wanted to see if the game would develop any stars from the USA on its own. It hasn't.

I've got five USA guys on my Bolton squad, so that may skew their ratings, but off the top of my head here's who is there currently:

                      GK- Sean Johnson (80 OVR)
                      RB- Chandler (76)
                      CB- Gonzalez (78)
                      CB- Ream, Packwood (74-75)
                      LB- F. Johnson (73)
                      CM - Bradley (81), Holden (78), Mix (78)
                      LM - Shea (81)
                      RM - Gatt (81)
                      ST- Jozy (84), Salgado (77)

Jozy, Shea, Gatt, Mix, and Gonzalez are all on my club team. Ream and Holden aren't. Gil and Span are right around 76, so they develop well also. A couple of the guys I scouted a few years ago are right around 76-77 also, so they'll probably develop nicely eventually, but they aren't going to displace Bradley or Jozy in the lineup in 2018.

4 stars to start. Still is after a year and a half.

So basically they haven't grown at all? That's weird... I was surprised when I took the Mexico job during the beginning of my 2nd season that the team was 5 stars.

Josh Gatt is the man!. Bought him in my first year at Villareal F.C. low rated but im in my 3rd year and he already rated 83 and is a speed demon.

Agreed. He's a beast. His pace can make him a suitable wing back/right back as well if you're looking to use your backs in a more attacking mindset. His pace allows him to catch up on the defense as well.
