I think a lot of people around here like the franchise, myself included. The best news is this likely means Universe will be back. With a bigger budget, I'm assuming they'll have the resources to dedicate time to better gameplay, and for next gen, I'm sure there won't be nearly the memory limitations we have now. So I'd expect Universe to take a large leap forward in terms of presentation.

Re: Yukes to develop Take Two WWE Games
This is complete and utter stupidity. It's so they can still get a game out this year but in the long run it'll only hurt them with YEARS of more poor to average quality games, full of glitches, awful design and issues that have been around for nearly 10 years (or maybe even more) that haven't been dealt with. But people will buy it anyway so it'll just keep on going.
Also assume this means the hope of a PC version bites the dust.
Really should've gave up this year and got a developer that can make a good WRESTLING game.Comment

Re: Yukes to develop Take Two WWE Games
I think with Take Two's money it will help out the game a lot. Probably a lot of stuff Yukes couldn't do because of the short pocket THQ had. I'm gonna sit back and wait.Comment

Re: Yukes to develop Take Two WWE Games
Thing that annoyed me and i presume many other is the fact the smaller things never got fixed in all THQ games. Like simple things for example WWE 13 universe mode you cannot change match cards if you want a feud to continue. Yet THQ misled us into thinking it was our Universe where we have a 100% control over it.
Also all the silly little glitches I sometimes wonder who test their games I bet i could do a better job as some things is very hard to believe it could be easily missed in testing.
I am looking forward to what will happen in the next game with the takeover and I think things should be better well at least i hope they will be. Only time will tell and I look forward to seeing what Yukes will do.Comment

It's true the engine is pretty stale at this point. Yukes got a ton of mileage out of it, but it's looking pretty shoddy.
Still, the whole 1 count thing makes me question how much attention THQ actually pays to wrestling. This should have been one of the first things found in testing.Comment

I think take 2 should so us a solid and release a patch for 13. At least to build some gamer confidence.

Re: Yukes to develop Take Two WWE Games
It's hard to believe I've been playing Yukes' WWF/WWE games for 13 years. I bought WWF Smackdown on release day in March of 2000 and have played every game since then. The crazy thing is, a ton of animations in the current game go all the way back to that original release. The "girl-slaps" that they give guys like CM Punk and Christian. The poke in the eye reversal when you try to lift someone off the mat. The two types of aerial moves: those that decrease gravity, leading to guys floating like a feather, and those that increase gravity, leading to guys falling unnaturally fast.
I was really looking forward to a new engine just so I can get some new animations. Of course, with a first-year game, we probably would have had a lot less features. Over 13 years, you have to admit that Yukes has amassed a ton of creation features and modes that may not have ever been incorporated into a brand new title. How long would we have to wait for a new developer to include create-an-arena, create-a-logo, create-a-storyline, or something like WWE Universe?Last edited by Anaxamander; 02-16-2013, 07:22 AM.Comment

Re: Yukes to develop Take Two WWE Games
He wants a company back that doesn't exist, which makes it even more hilarious. Like I said earlier, getting AKI, which isn't even AKI any more, you guys would have your expectations so damn high for a company that hasn't touched wrestling in a decade (No Mercy was 13 years ago), that when it released and it was underwhelming, we'd hear even more complaining than we do now. I doubt many people, if any for that matter, are still around from back then.Comment

Re: Yukes to develop Take Two WWE Games
I think we need a sticky explaining Aki:
1. Changed its name to Syn Sophia.
2. Have made nothing but terrible, terrible games since.
3. Haven't made a console game AT ALL since 2009. (With an awesome GR score of 39.06% which was in the combat sports area.)
4. Chances are anyone that actually worked on No Mercy doesn't work there anymore.Comment
