Re: A few things you can do to make the game better

I just started my "True simulation Season" I made all teams human controlled, the team that I play as is Montreal (locked in as center). I load the "custom Ai" for each team before the game and for all of the other teams in the league, I let the Ai play head to head. The idea here is to avoid the sim engine and see accurate results based on real events. Once I get twenty or so games in, I will post some of the numbers.

I am using my last posted slider set (though you could do this with 5min periods and still have an accurate league, just not numbers that reflect the real NHL. But at least avoiding the sim engine and the false numbers it generates).

The sim engine isn't THAT innacurate, you know...

I guess this will be a good way to find out!

Since I want the stats to reflect the kind of game that I get when I play versus the cpu teams, this is why I want to avoid the sim engine.

Now that being said, I guess a person could sim a season and then base your sliders on those numbers, but it might not play the way you want. But, at least the sim engine and the games you play would be more in tune for the league.

I am running a parallel sim league that I will compare as I go. Already I can see that the injuries while sim games are much more drastic, and based on some of the numbers I am seeing I expect there to be more goals and PP chances in the sim engine.

If nothing else, it should be interesting. Maybe I will look at making a slider set that mimics the sim engine, once I am done.

Wow! I can't believe I went this long with the puck control slider set backwards!!!

The puck control slider sets how easy it is to knock a player off the puck, the higher the setting the easier it is. I have mine set at four and there are way more loose pucks.

I know, my reaction was wtf! I was using slider at zero before and decided to play around a bit and found this out.

The puck control slider's a bit confusing, and its description is contradictory.

In theory, increasing the puck control slder would make it harder for players to lose the puck. However, the description says the exact opposite.

I never thought that this slider was reversed, but I remember having the slider at 3 or 4 a few years ago.

Will try increasing the slider to max to see if it's reversed.

Where is this description about puck control slide?

anyway i have tested this at 3 and 4 .... seems more loose pucks when it is in moviment...... poke check seems strangely less effective i have it at 4/5 and blocking shots is more difficult ....... another thing there is more goalie rebounds...

You can find a better description of what the sliders do, if you create a season and then go to slider edits in that game mode. I have no idea why they do not provide a better one in play now or just in game settings.

I did not notice more rebounds but I you will see more loose pucks as a result of players being bumped in front of the net. Going above 4, seems to result in more strange goals or pucks that seem to go to the opposition. I found at 3 or 4 that the players can keep control a little better and the pucks don't seem to squirt as far away from them.

The thing I like about setting it at 4, is increased battles along the boards and in front of the net. Sure we might have more chipped in pucks in the crease area, but that is more like the NHL anyways.

I will see if I can upload a game sample, so you guys can compare to what I get.

Just read this! Is this true? Is the puck control slider reversed? I have mine at 0 now... and i really don´t see that many loose pucks...

Can´t try it right now, so if anyone did try it please put feedback here.

                          Thanks!

I have puck control (using Superstar) at 2 for me and 0 for AI.

I notice that I seem to be able to hold on to the puck better when being checked or if a lose puck is in the area with two players (AI and my controlled player) I get the puck 9 out 10 times.

When I had AI at 2 and me at 1, the AI would get the puck more often than not.

I can confirm that the puck control slider is "reversed." I'm using it maxed right now, second game and I'm deffinately seeing more loose pucks.

The game is sloppier and more dynamic, haven't seen any strange goals yet really. Forechekig is more effective, especially with pinching D-men. It's also worth noting that you do see a difference in players with great puck control and the average ones.

                              Continuing to test.
