Do you think they should even call it Madden anymore? The man hasn't really been closely involved w/ development in quite some time. Heck his voice isn't even in the game anymore!

After the last going on 9 years and overall quality of the product, I wouldn't be surprised if that's why they drop the name. Regardless of anyone's opinion of the game as a whole, it's generally accepted, even by EA, that they did a poor job from the jump with Madden this gen. If EA is admitting that, it would make sense that they would want to put that behind them with a fresh start and name change for next gen. Could explain why they would go with M25 opposed to M14, considering it would be odd to go from M25 to M15 next year.

I for one think it's a good idea because I want to forget all about the travesty that was next-gen Madden and maybe with a G4 name change EA Tiburon could finally focus on implementing football, not Madden-ball.

No, because there's no reason for EA to drop the name of the game.

Madden is more than a video game, it's a piece of pop culture. When people think sports video games, the first game that comes to mind - regardless of opinion of quality or even whether one likes sports video games - is Madden. It is that way because the series has been around for 25 consecutive years and counting. There's no way EA is going to change that and lose on out on the free advertising that that level of brand recognition brings.

Or we could see a NBA Live to NBA Elite scenario play out where the game takes a complete nose dive and leaves us with no NFL game for a year two...at this point i dont think it would be that bad of a thing.

Good point, EA tried that with its NBA series (and made a hash of it) so it's certainly a possibility, but, I'm just not so sure that EA will be willing to strip a successful product of its primary identifier.
