Player ratings question

Are player ratings in the game (speaking about The Show 12) somehow based on real life stats, or are they "guestimated" in most cases?

For example, I took the top 10 pitchers rated for H/9. I then compared real life H/9 stats for their last year (starting with 2011 for the 2012 game rating), their last 2 years combined (2011 and 2010, etc), and finally their last three years combined (2011, 2010, and 2009). As I compared players with the same H/9 game rating, I could not find many instances where the numbers seemed to indicate why a player had a certain game rating.

If the number rating is based on a set range of numbers, as the Bahnzo calculator is, the game ratings did not come out to a consistant real life number. In other words, one pitchers 97 H/9 was not consistant with another pitchers 97 H/9, no matter what year, or combination of years I compared.

I only ask this because I'm trying to get some accurate player ratings for some of the legends that I have created. For players like Maddux and R Johnson, I did not take career numbers, I took averages for their 10 best years (basically I want them to dominate in my league with realistic Cy Young stats according to their real life best seasons).

Also, while H/9 or HR/9 is pretty evident as to what the ratings are judged by (I'm assuming H/9 is based on real life H/9 and nothing else), does anyone know what Stamina or Clutch is based on? I would assume that Stamina is based somewhat on IP/GS, but I find innacuracies there as well. I have no idea what constitutes "Clutch".

Thanks in advance for any and all replies....
