He is a solid defender when I watched him. Doesnt deserve the lock down sig though. Also for a top defender he has really good offense.

JR Smith is rated as a all around very good starter. Hes way too inconsistant for his rating. Hes not a smart player.Kinda same as I feel with Jennings. They have top talent and will ight it up some games but they are low IQ players and not consistant.
Shumperts handles aren't good. They're decent at best and he does NOT deserve a 76 rating for mid and 3 pt range He's shooting a HORRIBLE 16% from 16 ft and away, and even though his 3pt fg% is at 34% it's been dropping ever since. His vert is fine but he's not an explosive 1 foot jumper. He was like Jason Richardson back in the day... a 2 foot jumper. Solid defender no doubt but when you add everything up he shouldn't be an 80 overall.

and they are 2nd in the east and 6th in the league soooo idk what all the knicks hate is about...
Majority of the knicks players are rated fine but Shumpert DOES NOT DESERVE an 80 RATING.

Luke Walton and Kwame Brown have a higher PER than Shumpert this season, you do know that right?
I know a lot about other players that don't play for the knicks, all I'm saying is they aren't as overrated as they are made out to be by some people.

and kwame and luke aren't guarding/playing against d-wade, kobe, westbrook, etc handling the ball nearly as much or coming off a torn acl like shump and you know and everyone else knows that shump is infinitely better then kwame and luke put together so your little stat charade is meaningless...

I'm well aware of all this in case it isn't obvious enough I'm a knicks fan... in my roster I don't have shump as 80 he's lower because I'm not insane and I can see how he's playing...

and for the record I have kidd lower on my roster as well...

Why does Jeff Green still feel so stiff and he doesn't feel Athletic at all which he is in real life. He needs Posterior 2k!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wqr41I96eow

Jeff Green needs a 80 rating he's the third best player on the team. Behind KG and Perice after Rondo went down. He averages 18 points per game in February.

Avery Bradley needs to at least be a 76 he doesn't deserve a 79 anymore

I'm not saying that Luke and Kwame are better than Shumpert, I know that's far from the truth. I also am aware that PER is a flawed stat, as it doesn't take defense into account. However, here are the facts we know about Shumpert from statistics:

              1. He averages 8.5 points per 36 minutes, which is terrible.
              2. His PER of 7.7 is atrocious.
              3. He shoots 30 percent from the field and 67 percent from the free-throw line, both of which are horrendous numbers for a shooting guard.
              4. He has contributed a negative number of offensive win shares in BOTH of his first two seasons as a pro.
              5. When playing at shooting guard, Shumpert's opponent averages more points and assists than Shump, shoots a better field-goal percentage, has a higher PER and commits fewer fouls per 48 minutes.
              6. The Knicks have been outscored by 29 points with Shumpert on the court. When he's on the bench, the Knicks have outscored their opponent by 224 points.
              7. Shumpert is 15-56 on two-point attempts this season, a pathetic 27 percent conversion rate. It's even worse if you consider the fact that more than half of those attempts are at the rim.

Maybe you want to call all of this a "stat charade". But simply put, statistics DON'T lie. To be an 80 overall, a player has to be somewhat balanced and definitely not as one-dimensional as Shumpert is. The only things Shumpert can do well are defense and rebounding. So if someone could PLEASE tell me how given all those stats I just gave, he still deserves an 80 overall, I would love to hear your argument.

as a knicks fan. I personally would have shumpert, j kidd, camby, and kenyon martin lowered if they would raise tyson chandler and melo since they are the ones having the best seasons on the team. melo deserves his 92 rating back. and tyson deserves any upgrade he can get. Shumpert is also on minute restrictions i believe. His defense has picked up recently. I believe he has 6 steals in one game

Noah's passing should be a 65 , Layup could be a 64 he is missing more close baskets than he should . Ball handling up a lil as well as ball security could be a 20 . He's one of the best ball handling bigs in the league . And how's he has 80 stamina is beyone me should be at max a 86 .

apparently you didnt read my other post but I really don't care... I just hope you had fun looking up all those stats...

and shump is a great defensive player and a solid offensive player, period. he tore his acl and has been playing basketball against the best players in the world for about a month... I'd say that anything you pull out of your.... as far as stats is baseless considering he hasn't been back that long from an injury that had him out close to a year...

as I said in a previous post I don't have him as an 80 overall in my roster and it wouldn't matter anyway based on how the "overall" stat is weighted heavily on certain things so keep looking up all the stats you like, shump is a better then average player and a great defender when he's been playing more then a month and back to his old self then come throw stats out....

Shumpert definitely deserved his 80 rating after his rookie season but I agree that he should be lowered, expectations might have been too high after Adrian Peterson's comeback but that just makes AP's resurgence even more fascinating.

Shump tore his acl on the same day as Rose and kudos for him for coming back but he's been really struggling offensively even if his defense has been coming along this past couple games dude just doesn't look ready.

That being said, if Shump is decrease you have to increase Tyson/Melo's rating like homie said up there.

Sure, I think Melo deserves a 92 and Chandler deserves more like an 82 or 83 at least. But Smith shouldn't be higher than an 80, and I would put Shumpert and Kidd both in the 74-76 range.

Shumpert never deserved an 80 rating. He was always 72-75ish at best. His jumper is inconsistent and his offensive awareness is too high. Everything else is fine but they need to lower his offensive abilities by A LOT.

I think Shump's rating should drop to around 78. I didn't hear people complaining about Ricky Rubio's rating when he was having trouble slotting back into the roster after his rehab. The statistics that you quoted are also badly flawed IMO since he's averaging less than 20 mins a game, basically 5 minutes a quarter and he's playing outside his natural postion. Why not drop Danny Granger's OVR as well? Another player struggling to fit into the rotation after injury. What do you propose Rose's rating should be if he were to play again this season. Because in limited minutes (even being the former MVP he is) his production would also show a serious statistical drop. Bynum also. As far as the Suns trade goes, we're seemingly both glad that the deal for Dudley wasn't done, but the Suns weren't the ones who said no.

Granger has been back for four games, you can't judge a player based on one good or bad week. Shumpert however, has been back for 18 games, and when a player goes on a cold streak for more than a month, it's usually time to consider updating their rating.

Also, you said the stats I put down were flawed because he plays under 20 minutes a game? I said he averaged 8.5 points PER 36 MINUTES, so a minutes cap doesn't matter. Also, PER and field-goal percentage doesn't relate to minutes, so I'm not sure why you said any of that.
