I don't use my favorite team until I'm ready to start a franchise or season. Its like torture not using them but I figure, heck, I'm gonna play enough games with them anyway.
This is the first year that I am doing the same thing. I used to just start with the Jays right away, get about 30 games in and then OSFM come out and even though I tell myself I won't, I always start over. It's depressing losing all of the stats and having a guy who was tearing it up, slump to start the new season.

So, I've been playing exhibition games with random teams to get a feel Then I read someone doing a fantasy draft franchise so I figured I'd do that with an NL team to get to see the parks I rarely get to see. I drafted a Nationals team and am going to do that until the rosters come out.

I agree 100% that it's not realistic at all but what we have to remember is this is a "video game" and unlike what some on here think that's all it is.

Oh please. Weird stuff happens in baseball all the time. If you can't accept the occasional statistical oddity, The Show (and baseball as a whole for that matter) probably isn't for you.

Hey i've got no problem with Wise hitting two hrs. off Kershaw in a video game or other statistical oddities.

The problem is that when you boast yourself as "the most realistic baseball game", people tend to believe it and when they see things such as Stephen Strasburg playing for Toronto in the year 2014, it seems to lessen the believability of it. I see a lot of people here complain about a variety of things....some legit, some silly. Point being, expectations are probably way too high and people lash out because they didn't get the product they thought they were getting.

The thing is you don't know what's gonna happen. That's baseball. Nobody thought Johnny Damon would ever play for the Yankees. Or Michael Young for a team that's not the Rangers. Most people thought Felix would leave Seattle. Crazy stuff happens. If people don't want any transactions that's one thing. But to nitpick strange ones when there are stranger ones in real life is pointless.

The Seaver one really hurt. Plus him crying on camera just added to it.

It's not just about Wise hitting 2 homers against Kershaw.

The fact of the matter is while Wise hits 2 homers on pitches in his cold zones, I am not getting that result for my team. Now factor in Wise is 35 years old with 40 for contact and 47 for power and add in cold zones and add in I don't get that in my cold zones.

In addition, it's not just Wise whacking them in cold zones, but no players on my team are getting homers off pitches in the cold zone, yet Wise gets 2 in one game, the powerful 35-year-old Wise with 40 contact and 47 power.

So I have followed this forum for years (on occasion), but finally have decided to take the time to sign up. Been playing since the Ortiz game in 06.

Heres my rant about this years game:

                            1. The glitch/stutter while your not in a game. It literally glitches like every 5 seconds and freezes the music and the screen. Is this my disk or the game? Its honestly ruining it.

                            2. Why in Franchise mode do players get poorly so quickly? Mariano goes from a 97 to a 78 in like 1 month of the 2013 season? WTF. This is honestly ridiculous. RA Dickey becomes a 75 after being a 95?!?! This is severely drastic, did I not do a new feature like train them or something?

I did 3 drafts so far, my team was 1st, 4th, and 3rd. After a month every single one was either 27, 29, 30th overall. I didnt just draft old people, it was a sold mix of youth and veterans.

                            3. The pictures coming and going on the player cards.

                            4. Side ways cards to read attributes? Not happy with that.

This is the worst Show I have ever played (in the little time I have played it), maybe I am doing something wrong that is new? But this is a HUGE, and I mean HUGEEEE letdown to the Show franchise. Im about to pop 2012 back in, that was a game.

So the issue is because it happened TO you, and not FOR you? If you were able to turn around and do it, that's even more unrealistic isn't it?

Also, has it happened again, outside of the Wise Event? Guys hit homeruns off of bad pitches/good pitchers from time to time, that's just baseball. Also, just because you turn 35 doesn't immediately take away your ability to hit a homerun.

I don't mean to sound patronizing (at all), but these types of "statistical anomalies" happens all the time. Maybe it was a 1-in-10,000 event (or whatever probability you want to assign). Keep in mind that the other 10,000 of people playing this game on MLB The Show did NOT have that happen and perhaps Wise went 0 for 2 for most people. But because it happened to you, you view it as "unrealistic". 1 in 100, 1,000 10,000 or 100,000 events DO happen. They obviously-by definition-happen rarely, but they happen. You can say it was an "unlikely" event, but not "unrealistic"... until it begins to happen on a more frequent basis than it should. There is a saying in baseball that every time you watch a baseball game you will see some unique event that you have never seen before no matter how many games you watch. It doesn't mean that event was unrealistic. I enjoy the strange occurrences that happen in the games (frustrating as they can be when happen to you).
