Prospect Preview
Josh Ruda
Point Guard
Height : 6'5'' Weight : 213'
Senior

About The Player

Josh Ruda is an oversized point guard who shoots lights out, but also developed a knack to get his teammates involved. He first arrived on the scene at Northeastern as a starter his Freshman year with the team. In his Senior season he averaged 25.5 points per game with 9.8 assists per game. However, he isn't the most athletic guy in the world, and struggles doing things that even back-up NBA point guards can do naturally.

Strengths

One of the best three point shooters in the nation a year ago, shooting 57.9% last year and almost 50% through his career. Doesn't need much space to knock down the three ball. He has a abnormal shooting stroke, but it works for him. His mechanics might hurt him in the NBA, but his shot rarely gets blocked. Great free throw shooter, shot 93.4% last year. His size makes him a great rebounder at the point guard position. He can create his own shot pretty easy. Also, he is a great pick and roll ball-handler. He tends to attack the paint on the pick and roll. He can easily make any scorer on his team better by his passing skills.

Weaknesses

Not very athletic for a athlete who scores nearly 25 points per game. He's going to have to work hard to become an NBA starter, but he can do it. Also, he tends to become inconsistent at times. Also struggles attacking the paint over taller guys, but he almost rarely struggles shooting over them. Tends to make low IQ decision on the court.

Projected Draft Position

Ruda has a chance to hit the lottery, but I would expect this point guard to fall to around 13-15.
