    Base Roster Edits for OSFM

Every year once the OSFM roster is released I go through and edit the base roster players to the best of my knowledge. However, with being primarily a Tigers fan I do not know many edits beyond that.

I am not looking for perfection here, but post any edits for ratings or pitch edits/pitch speeds that you think should be right. For example, I feel that Justin Verlanders fastball should be a running fastball instead of a 4-seam.

I am also going to give Quinton Barry a bump in speed and baserunning ability.

Knight and the crew do an awesome job on the rosters, makes the game so much more enjoyable for franchise. I am so looking forward to starting my franchise soon!

Again, I am not looking for perfection, just maybe some opinions. Also, there is another thread for batting stances, and deliveries. Just looking for ratings and pitch edits. Thank You.

I like this idea for a thread. I noticed that Adam Eaton's contact rating is much higher vs. L than vs. R. I think it's based on the small sample of his major league PA's last year. I'm not sure what it should be, but I'd love to hear others' opinions.

What would your ideas be also for Relief Pitchers that also Start from time to time be for there stamina? Normally there stamina rating is so low that they would only be able to go 3 or 4 innings in a start.

I have noticed this with other players as well. Right handed batter has better ratings vs right handed pitching and vice versa.

Something else that has always bugged me is the power rating right vs. left. For instance Prince Fielder has a 90 something rating vs right and 70 something vs left. If he gets a hold of the ball, it is going, no matter what hand pitcher is on the mound. I always thought the contact rating should be lower, but power stay the same? Your thoughts?

Adrian Gonzalez' power vs lefties should be bumped way up, IMO

I agree, lowering contact makes more sense. Perhaps the way the average stats are calculated uses power as frequency of power. So Fielder on average hits fewer homers vs lefties and to account for that SCEA lowers his power frequency. Maybe contact is hit frequency overall and power determines percentage of hits that go a certain distance?

I am sure almost everyone who plays this game has at least 1 player that they think is mis-rated, or there is a pitcher that has a bad pitch type, here is your chance to post that.

Dan Uggla needs his speed bumped up. They have him way too low needs to be around 50-55.

Anyone think Will Middlebrooks and Pedro Ciriaco's durability should be higher? Ciriaco played in a number of games last year and the wrist injury really wasn't Middlebrooks' fault. Ciriaco is at 52 and Middlebrooks is at 67.

Uggla's Speed Score last year was only 2.8 and only 2.4 the year before that, I'm not 100% sure how they determine the Speed attribute in game but he is slow.

Adrian Gonzalez' power vs lefties should be bumped way up, IMO
Gonzalez has only hit 17 home runs versus lefties in 644 at bats over the last 3 seasons, which is how they determine Power. That is only 37.88 at bats per home run versus lefties which isn't very high and if I were rating it would be right around the 50 mark.

Something else that has always bugged me is the power rating right vs. left. For instance Prince Fielder has a 90 something rating vs right and 70 something vs left. Same thing as Adrian... Fielder has only hit 18 home runs versus lefties in the past 3 seasons and his at-bat/homerun ratio vs lefties is 32.61 (Only 36.33 in 2012)
That translates to about 54 in my book. Be grateful if they have it higher than that because I sure wouldn't.

Agree with everything your saying, and stats dont lie. However, I do not necessarily associate power with homeruns. Maybe I am wrong on this. I would think that power would also be deep shots in the gap, blazing line drives, etc...

I agree with that but just from what I've seen going over all the players attribute ratings in game, Power is being determined by home runs or at-bat / home run ratio.

He was a 55 in last years game he didnt loose that much in one year. They have him slower than freeman and mcann. Freeman runs like a donkey with a broken leg.

Like I said I'm not sure how to translate speed into a rating and I haven't seen Uggla run, so all I can do is look at his baserunning statistics and offer judgement as to why the rating is what is.
I think last year they had some players speed rated a little too high, I remember seeing Freese over 60 which was a bit funny at the time but I think they got it right this year.

A-Rod may not ever come back. He needs a major overhaul on his ratings. Definately not an 88.

Carlos Beltran might be on of the most over rated players in the league right not. Especially at 35 years old. 98 overall, thats crazy.

96 durability for Hanley Ramirez, needs to come down probably about 30 points.

I am not really a firm believer that Josh Hamilton is a 99 Overall. I am not exactly sure were to lower his ratings though. 97 contact vs R?

On a side note: its too bad they dont have a throw the bat rating, he would be the greatest of all time!!!
