Re: NCAA Football 14 Video - First Look at New Gameplay Engine
Hate to be a negative Nancy, but the foot planting only seems to impact the guy with the ball... defenders looks to move the same as they always have.
And the force impact stuff looks hugely overdone.
Hopefully I'm wrong about my skepticismComment

Re: NCAA Football 14 Video
Anybody feel free to "check" me but that video brought me back down to reality. Maybe this will look different from an actual game play view and a can see more of what's substantially changed but in that video I still thought I saw sliding/skipping, the runner generally covering too much ground at times. I think the inclusion of cuts mapped to left stick movement is good but is it just cosmetic, meaning the players still change direction too easily, gliding into space, just with a cut animation playing out. I hope someone understands what I am talking about and can maybe clarify what I might be missing here.
The juking reminds me of the NCAA 07? juke move when you can pull off multiple moves. I'm wondering what is given to the defense to even it out.#WashedGamerComment

At 0:08 when the Alabama ball carrier makes the spin to fake out the Texas A&M player you can clearly see he slides and it was suppose to be showcasing footplanting. Not trying to be negative because I saw alot of positive with the footpolanting in the vid.
EDIT: at 0:41 the Texas defender cuts on a dime mirroring the ball carrier.Last edited by m1ke_nyc; 04-03-2013, 12:32 PM.Itโs easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didnโt.Comment

The amount of running backs I saw just completely running over defensive guys was just alarming.Florida State Seminoles
Atlanta Braves
3 national championships 3 Heisman Trophy winners 16 ACC Championships 14 straight AP top fives

I also thought there were some positives in the video but what good will 20 new option offenses do if the blocking doesn't improve? Currently it is completely unrealistic how both the blockers and the defenders react to an option play. Also, I am once again worried that these improvements are totally slanted toward the offense.Comment

Blocking still looks unnatural.
At 10 seconds, what are the two players doing in the background ? Certainly not playing football at the college level.
The acceleration burst thing is great though.Comment

There is a lot to be excited about here. I just want to see some potion gameplay. See if they actually really fixed anything.

Re: NCAA Football 14 Video - First Look at New Gameplay Engine
I think the problem I have is it's the same running system with these animations pasted on top. The movement is still user control first, realism second. Everything still snaps back into place after the animations plays out, it's just too quick and not fluid enough. Tiburon is going to have to bite the bullet and use longer animations next gen, or come up with some new tech that allows a realistic look and the user control they're looking for. They add new animations and they still don't look right, but hey Tiburon is cool with it, looks realistic to them so I guess it's just a lost cause for guys like me.Last edited by SageInfinite; 04-03-2013, 12:50 PM.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

but i thought it looked ok. wasn't perfect (the offense player looked too strong, he got caught in the middle of a spin, should have been demolished by defender), but the foot planting looked ok. i didn't see much sliding at all.Comment

It has to b like that because they want da power backs to b worth something in da recruiting and their adding gangtackling which u need to bring down a powerback and hitstick 2.0 low and high hits.Comment
