Re: EJ Manuel talks NCAA Football 14's Gameplay
It's still there... kinda. From what I've read about NCAA is seems like autosprint as we know it is gone, but the game now uses the system from NHL, where players automatically accelerates to their respective top speeds if the distance allows it.
I think the new speed burst fuctionally in NCAA (which is a lot better than a sprint button, IMO) will function a lot like NHL's hustle button. The hustle button allows your player to reach top speed faster, but at a penalty to having less agility. Combined with the improved fatigue, you'll hopefully experience that players, who makes a lot of cuts, jukes and speed bursts will have less top speed, agility and acceleration at the end of the game.
Hopefully they've also implemented an improved dual-running back system with the new playcalling, so you don't have to use formation subs to prevent your RB from getting too fatigued.Comment

I haven't bought an NCAA game in years but that might change this year with this dramatic improvements. I was tired of using teams and the passing game felt like a setup, a simple throw and catch or knock down system. No type of contact between wr and cb/s at all. The running game was mechanic, everything was pretty much mechanic.Comment

i've been confirmed for buying this game since about December since i've never had an issue enjoying NCAA games outside of the freezing issue every year. Unlike Madden which got boring after the first season was completed. I still love NCAA 13 even with it's few issues. But with these reviews and promising changes to major issues in the past, to hell with the hype train i'll be driving my hype lambo in the HOV for the next 3 months. Despite that scrub Denard Robinson being on the cover. ill just have to make a custom box cover Go BuckeyesComment

On the new speed burst, Manuel said it would help you burst through a hole once it opens.Comment

Also, one of my biggest complaints was that the sprint button allowed Users to switch to CPU controlled players that should have already been sprinting/running at top speed and accelerate anyway. This new system seems to prevent that by allowing CPU players to naturally reach top speeds just by running so those CPU controlled receivers going out on fly routes and those CPU defenders in man coverage should now naturally be hustling and getting fatigued. This should have an effect on playcalling, on both sides of the ball, because now the CPU/AI controlled teammates won't be out their taking plays off when not under User control, they should be hustling and getting worn down.Comment

Re: EJ Manuel talks NCAA Football 14's Gameplay
lol, I read a lot of people stating this but I believe it is different than that. The old sprint has always been like a gas peddle rather than a hustle, like another poster stated ITT. I presume that the acceleration rating plays a key part in the speed burst like it did with sprint but now so does the stamina rating. So a player with good speed and acceleration can quickly reach top speed but can only maintain that speed according to their stamina and their fatigue will take a hit, effecting all their in-game actions over time.

So as far as these 2 features, they are touting an old feature as new and a broken feature as new. Neither of these things are really new. Fatigue was one of their features they touted on last gen when you'd see the player circle in the playcalling screen turn to yellow and then red depending on how fatigued your player was.
These are not new features.Comment

Again though, speed burst, no matter how you want to describe it, was in the game and phased out for auto-sprint and is now being brought back and touted as new. Also fatigue has always been in the game, it just hasn't been implemented properly or worked properly.

You said great a few minutes ago, but then just going on like it meant nothing.
Ben didn't say it's new, it's called marketing. McDonalds keeps on bringing back the McRibb every year under different marketing plans and no one says squat about that.lol.Comment

However, for the sprint button, they never took it out, even with auto sprint turned "on" the User could still manually use the trigger. I actually thought that was counter productive, doesn't make sense to have auto sprint "on" but still have manual sprint to me. So again, it seems like what they did is fix the sprint system so it's actually a speed burst like it should have been all along, which is a good thing but more of a fix than a new feature. Things like this working right are new to next-gen football games so I guess that constitutes touting them as new features as far as EA marketing is concerned, lol. Again, I couldn't care less how they label it, like "avoidance mechanic", as long as they really do work.

But you keep sweeping under the carpet that Ben said, it's been re-added in a interview.

I did check out the different articles though with previews of the game and they all point out the speed burst button and fatigue which means they were given those 2 features (among others) from EA directly. It's not like all these different websites/magazines all picked up the game and said, wow speed burst is back and so is fatigue, let me mention it. They were given a list of improvements which means EA felt it was important enough to tout.
Instead what it did was further back what people have been saying for years, that they take out features and years later recycle them. If that doesn't bother you a little then I don't know what to tell you.
And your McRib analogy was terrible.Comment

I feel you on the broken fatigue system and as long as it's fixed to work right I don't care how they present it, lol.

I don't want to go back n forth too much on this because then it comes across as me making a much bigger deal out of this than I really want. It's not a huge issue to me, i actually find it funny. This year I have a "Show me something" attitude. I am no longer like I was 5-6 years ago where I ate up all the stuff they fed us. I'm also not looking to just rip everything because I don't want to deal with those that love to defend the game getting their panties in a bunch. I'm just responding to those that responded to me and I probably won't say much more on this.Comment
