most underrated player from 2008 draft
I am wondering who is your most underrated player either on the defence or offence or special teams? Mine is David Vobora from idahoTags: None -
Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
I'll go with Vobora as well. He can be a 82-83 Balanced overall player with the right player development, and OLBs can be very hard to find in some paths as well. -
Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
Carl stewart, hands down the most underrated/underappreciated player in the 2008 draft. I draft him in the 6th if I actually redo the draft(which I dont anymore). But you can easily let him slip to undrafted fa.
He's capable of taking an fb dive the distance at any distance. He turns pa passes where the fb goes to the flat or circle routes into easy first downs(once he learns them) and possible tds. He's an amazing blocker, and he's easily the most athletic fb in the game except VERY few fbs in the fake drafts.
It takes him 2 years to really be the beast he is(aka the start of the 2nd season) because his learning is low, but once he learns the plays, your offense has a legitimate option at fb for running and receiving. He's also a beast as a 2nd kick returner. If you kick to him he runs through people, if you kick to the #1 returner, you have an amazing impact blocker as a lead blocker...Last edited by algoody421; 04-04-2013, 09:05 PM.Comment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
I Also Agree On Carl Stewart-FB. Very Dependable And I Have Seen Him Go For My Whole Coaching Career And Be Productive. Very Good Goal Line Back Pile Driving Through The Middle And Catching The Short, Quick Pass Around The Goal Line.
Next I Would Say:
Offense - Josh Johnson-QB
Defense - Tony Bake - DE/OLBComment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
I like Carl Stewart but mine has to be Alex Brink. If you are in need of a QB he is your guy...depending on the coaching staff I guess but he can progress fast and be a solid QB in a year or two...at least thats how it was with the Patriots.
Defense...I will go with DT Smithers. He is a beast and will develop fast with playing time. I dont like Vobora though. He never seems to pan out for me. His LRN is too low and without being the perma starter he seems to fall to the wayside.Won't change my sig until the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl...wait, that happened ! Let's win another one! Go Hawks!!Comment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
I'd have to go with WR Kevin Robinson. He's a good #3 option in a West Coast offense (Tall/Red Zone) and has the potential in a couple seasons to be the go-to guy. It's just a matter of getting the right coaching staff to help develop him like with Stewart or Smithers.
On the topic of Stewart, I've actually got more out of him with the Broncos by moving him to HB, allowing him to tag-team with Mike Bell and Selvin Young/Xavier Omon (depending on if I keep Young or trade him) as Workhorse backs. I've never thought to put him as the 2nd return man during kickoffs, but it makes sense to do so.Comment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
QB- Andre Woodson (just started a new dynasty with the Dolphins he's an animal)
HB- Xavier Oman (pot is always 88 or higher for me)
WR- MARCUS MONK (big sleeper)
MLB- Beau Bell (ranked low but always goes in early rounds)
CB- Patrick Lee & Chevis Jackson
SS- Zbikowski (Beast)
There are many others but those are the ones I usually roll with. All effectiveComment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
It might not make sense at first, but thinking about it, i think Kenny Phillips
Getting him at the end of the 1st locks him into a cheap deal for 5 years and hes basically a lock to be a top 5 SComment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
I had Carl Stewart in a past career, definitely underrated. I liked him a lot as a FB also.
Not too crazy about Xavier Oman. Yeah his potential is 88 but he is as dumb as a rock.
I recently started a new career and for a challenge, picked the Dolphins since they are so horrible. I picked Oman up and he spent a year as the #2 back behind Ronnie Brown. I subbed him in often during the season, I would say every 3rd or 4th series usually. His playbook knowledge after one season is so lacking it's ridiculous. You see flashes but he would be so much better if he could actually learn a play or three.
I just went through the 2010 draft and acquired Markus Monk in the 3rd round, he seems very promising. Just starting pre-season tonight, so I'll see how he goes.Comment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
I think I saw someone else say this name here, but if not, PATRICK LEE, CB. The guy is nasty, he's got 4 punt returns for tds this 3rd season on the zazzali path. I usually see him get 1 or 2 a year. That plus he's a very solid nickle or dime back.Comment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
No sense putting all the sleepers on here, they've been mostly mentioned. I can think of 3 guys I got before no one mentioned that did some amazing things for me: (of course I don't constantly draft the same guys each year 'cause there's no sense making my different franchises clones of each other.)
CB Michael Grant: I've always seen him undrafted, Builds up OK as a 4th corner, man coverage specialist - super fast and does well on kickoff returns.
DT D. Longbottom: It was probably a one year fluke, or maybe it's his 99 strength, but I had him with a Jags franchise and he had to start most of the year when Henderson got hurt. I remember a game vs Titans where he sacked Young 3 times. Ended up with 8 sacks in I think 11 games. Didn't keep the franchise past the first year though. I'll have to get him again and see.
LB LaRoque: guy's fast and can really cover well. If you're a cover-2 or similar style of D, the guy's a really good player - you won't find a guy as fast with his cover skills for so cheap.
(I also second that one shout out for Monk. The guy's been clutch for me more than a few times. Not fast, but seems to come through with a catch when I need it. Big fan of his.)Comment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
Here's what I got:
SpoilerAt HB, Jamaal Buckingham makes a great power HB and/or ball carrying FB. Jerome Vatter by the way makes a good balanced FB. He actually has the highest possible potential out of all the '08 fullbacks if you look at it.
TE Mike Peterson is like Jermichael Finley-lite. You can grab both and bam, you've got your 2 TE set.Comment

Re: most underrated player from 2008 draft
On defense...
SpoilerTony Bake is pretty beast honestly. He's been mentioned in this thread before. He's as dumb as a rock though. Also mentioned in this thread was DT Darrell Longbottom. He has 99 strength and high power moves. He's very raw and not to the smartest but he can be an asset in a d-line rotation.
Xavier Adibi is a great athlete and could be used for a cover 2 system just with his speed alone. Beau Bell at MLB is in my opinion the best available MLB in the draft (I ALWAYS move Gooden to the outside if I draft him though).
At corner, Dejuan Tribble is a well-balanced corner although he doesn't have the best potential. He has at least an 80 in man AND zone coverage If I'm remembering correctly. He can be gotten as an UDFA.
Safety Josh Barrett makes a good DB. Just with his 97 speed, you can get some ultra quick pressure with him.Comment
