I mentioned this before but if you need player info for Creighton, I can help you. Creighton should have 4 recruits for next year unless they get another light commitment.

Good deal. If you weren't going to do it, I was considering doing it.

I'm going to try and figure out a possible way to make the conferences a little more realistic with all the craziness going down next year.

Michigan I can def. give you the low down. Maybe you will have some faith after I told you Vogrich was awful compared to all the freshmen they had early in the season.

WVU as well... live near Morgantown.

You going to start in the major conferences or the small ones?

Lol Vogrich was bad, good call. But ya Post what you know when you have time, I'll use it. I am doing bigger and western Conferences first since I'm familiar with the west and the bigger conferences are easy to track recruiting wise, trying to follow the Southland or SWAC etc. is tough.

no rush, get it in when you can. I always look to edit teams using info from people who really "know" that team. You can get into detail like tatoos and shooting form too, I'm all ears!

Well, Duke's starting 5 for next year is a little up in the air. I've got it as Cook-Sulaimon-Hood-Parker and another, whether that's Amile Jefferson or Marshall Plumlee or maybe even Josh Hairston remains to be seen. Next season's Duke team is likely to be an up and down, faster paced team than this years. They're finally an 'athletic' side in the classic sense.

I think the biggest thing from the guards is consistency. PG play was up and down. Quinn started like a house on fire then tapered off badly. Maybe fatigue was part of it or maybe teams starting playing him a different way. I'm not sure. But he needs to consistently set up his teammates for Duke to really click. He found his stroke during his slump, and that's fine, but Duke created less and less as the season went on and relied on jumpers which isn't good at all. Thornton is a gamer. A defensive specialist with a knack for a big shot or big play somewhere in a game, he can expect to spell and at times play with Quinn as another ball handler/initiator. Definitely in line to be a captain next season.

SG should be a real position of strength for Duke next season. Sulaimon playing as well as he did for most of the season, Dawkins coming back and Jones coming in means Duke have 3 very different options here. Sulaimon is very athletic wing with a streaky stroke. Dawkins is pure butter but will he play enough minutes and be reacclimated quick enough to help Duke out? And Jones is very similar to Curry in that he's a crafty player. Not the quickest or most athletic but can score the basketball.

SF might be Duke's most loaded position with SEC-All freshman first teamer Rodney Hood joining up. He's just a beast. Freak athlete, can score, can defend, can handle, can pass. Terrific all-rounder. Alex Murphy is a player that's been talked up for a while now but never really managed significant playing time. That should change next season. He's drawn comparisons to Kyle Singler in terms of styles of play and those seem apt, though Murphy strikes me as slightly more athletic with slightly less of a stroke. Semi Ojeleye is, IMO, similar to Rodney Hood but with a slightly bigger frame. He is a solidly built 6'6/7/8 (Whatever height he is) and has a physique similar to Josh Hairston. I've not seen much of him but he looks like a BEAST of a guy who may or may not take a redshirt.

PF is a position most people are excited about with super frosh Jabari Parker the incumbent starter. He's the most polished player in his class that I've seen. He's the most well rounded player at his size and he should see significant playing time right away. Josh Hairston is an unsung and IMO under appreciated player on this team. He plays tough defense, is physical on the glass and is very savvy. I believe he led Duke in charges taken last season. As I said, he could start at center but if he doesn't, expect him to spell Jabari throughout the game.

C is the big question mark on this Duke team. Will Marshall be ready? Can Amile make the spot his own? Lots of question marks and rightly so with and All-American sized hole to fill. Marshall's had a lot of injuries that have set him back but if he can move past those he can make this spot his own. Amile would need to put on a lot of weight to start at Center but he's well capable with his frame. Though I can't help but wonder if that would make him a more limited player than if he stayed at SF size.

Great breakdown, much appreciated. Couple questions/observations: Do you REALLY expect Dawkins to return to school, I am not privey to inside information but it just feels like he wont be with the team next year? I gotta think for better or worse Plumlee is starting at the 5, ya he is still going to be learning on the job but Duke cant expect to compete in the ACC with a 6'7-8" center ya? What is up with Jefferson? Is he going to explode next year or what, I watched a few Duke games last year but never saw the guy on the court. Do you expect Parker to be the "man" from the get go i.e. Shabaaz, Smart, etc.? Which Freshman besides Parker do you expect to have the biggest impact? If I recall they have at least 3 guys coming in. And oh Alex Murphey, I know you touched on it but I expect this guy to have a role on the team next year, seems to be a good kid with a nice work ethic (watch, we'll see a Alex Murphy transfer headline now in a week lol). Thanks man

I'm a little late with my reply but yes, Dawkins has confirmed he is coming back next year.

I do think Duke could compete next year playing a sort of small ball-ish kind of thing. If it is indeed Jefferson, that's 6'8" with a massive wing-span and good instincts protecting the rim flanked by 6'8" Parker and 6'7" Hood. I think if push came to shove and, say, one of Carolina's young bigs was getting after us, I think Marshall could step in and do the job.

Speaking of Jefferson, he does seem to have a lot of talent, particularly defensively. He did a sterling job on McDermott when Duke were struggling with foul trouble and he is a solid rebounder. He is a clean up kind of guy, gets his points off rebounds and movement. I think he could be a terrific all-rounder for Duke.

I don't know if Parker is gonna be 'the man' but he'll start and play a lot of minutes right away. He's too good not to. Very polished inside-out game. Can run the floor and is a very good passer.

With Dawkins coming back, I don't see Jones playing much if at all this year so he's probably gonna take a redshirt but Semi is up in the air. He's a big guy, very athletic and very strong. He could play either the 3 or the 4 so if Amile does make the move to center, he could play a small role for Duke next season.

And Murphy is a guy I've been high on since Duke started recruiting him. I thought he'd start this year for sure and give Duke a Singler-esque dimension. I heard his defense and understanding how Duke plays wasn't up to snuff but the steal and dunk he had against Maryland got me (re) officially excited.

As of right now I can not give you a good update on Creighton because of all the recruiting they are doing over their maximum scholarships. I wouldn't be surprised if some players get kicked off the team. Coach McDermott is trying to recruit better athletes with the move to the Big East. Once rosters are about finalized, I can give you a full report.

Ill start Plumlee at 5 for now and see how it plays out I suppose. Thanks for the invaluable info.

No worries, getting more athletic will be very important for them I think.

It is unfortunate to see him go but I hope Greg McDermott did a wise choice by telling him to leave Creighton Basketball.
