The Quest to Rule England-KJ King's Managerial Adventures

Before I start, let me tell you a little about my gaming preferences. I normally start with a middle of the pack, or an aging team(ex: my Mavs association) But, I saw bhurst99's video dynasty of him managing Liverpool, his favorite club.(btw, you should definatly check that out) It inspired me to start my own, with my favorite club, Manchester United. This is my story.

    Vitals:
    System:Xbox 360
    Game:FIFA 13
    Difficulty:Professional(did I mention I'm terrible?)
    Half Length:5 minutes

I will TRY to play all the games, and get an in-game picture, but no promises.

Sir Alex Steps Down, King Named Manager in Shocker

Sir Alex Ferguson, manager of the soccer club Manchester United, announced today he was voluntarily resigning as manager. At his press conference, he said, "It is getting harder and harder to keep managing at a top level and keep up with the day-to-day business being manager brings. Because of this, I am stepping down as manager of Manchester United." Everyone was shocked, including players. Wayne Rooney said "I am completely shocked by this. He never gave any indication he was going to retire, or anything like that." Manchester United legendary midfielder Ryan Giggs was sad to see Ferguson retire. "He was such and influential man," Giggs said, "He really got my career going. I wish him the best in the rest of his life." Manchester United even sent out this tweet to all of their followers.

Even his rivals had praise for him. "He was a true legend," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said, "It was a joy managing against him. That said, it makes my job a little bit easier, not going up against one of the all time greats!" Manchester United's board of directors announced they have named unknown manager KJ King as the new boss. King was just as shocked as the rest of the soccer world. "I had no clue this was coming," King told reporters, "It was a complete and utter shock. I heard Alex Ferguson had stepped down, and then [Manchester United owner] Malcolm Glazer was offering me the job. How could I possibly decline?" Glazer announced he was going to give King a $36,500,000 million dollar transfer budget, along with a $250,000 wage budget. However, Glazer has high expectations for King. "We expect to win the league," Glazer said, "and the FA Cup, and the Championship League. We see no reason why that cannot be accomplished." As the season creeps near, King will look to impress by making some high profile transfers.

King Brings in Subotic, Lists Carrick

New manager KJ King is getting off to a fast start at Manchester United, buying CB Neven Subotic from Borussia Dortmund for 15 million dollars. The 25 year old plays for Serbia on the international side, but was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He signed a 4 year contract that gives him $80,000 a week. He told reporters" It will be an honor to not only play at on of the best clubs in England, but also one of the best in the world. It is a truly amazing experience, and I just couldn't turn that offer down. I really appreciate all Dortmund did for me and my career, but it is time to move on to bigger and better things." Subotic is familiar with Nemanja Vidic , who is a fellow center back for the Serbs. Also, center mid Shinji Kajawa played with Subotic last season at Dortmund. Says Kajawa through his translator "This is a very good player. He can play defense well, makes most of the tackles, and makes good passes." King had nothing but praise for his new man "I believe he can be just as good as Vidic in a few years," King told reporters, "From what I have seen, he is a very, very talented defender." On a less happy note, King has alerted teams to the availability of CM Michael Carrick. Carrick, who didn't play well last season with only 2 goals and 3 assists in 27 matches in the Premier League. King will look to get the best deal possible for the middie. "He is a talented player, but he doesn't fit my current philosophy," King was quoted saying, "We are going to be sad to watch him go."

                Giggs May Retire After Season

Manchester United middie Ryan Giggs has told new manager KJ King this current season may be his last. He told King "I don't have enough gas in the tank to keep going. It is hard to keep playing at a high level." No doubt United fans are sad to here that. "Giggs is a true legend," one fan said. "We are going to miss him if he does retire." While Giggs is 40, King belives he will still play well this season. "We hope Ryan can keep up the good work," King said, "He will factor into our plans." When asked if the Welshman told King he was going to retire, King declined to comment, as did Giggs. Teammate Paul Scholes has already made his retirement announcemnet, and he and Giggs go way back to the days of Beckham and van Nistelrooy. Scholes said this about Giggs. "If he retires, United loses 3 legends in one season. That would be interesting. But I hope he plays for as long as he can." It it unknwn whether the retirement of United legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson caused Giggs to consider retirement.

Will Nani Go to the Gunners?

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal and Manchester United are deep into transfer talks over left midfielder Nani. The Gunners offered the Red Devils $29,500,000 for Nani's services, but apparently KJ King didn't think that amount was fair, and countered with 35 million. They went back and forth, and King apparently revised his offer. Both Arsene Wegner and KJ King declined to comment, but a source close to the negotiations says it is $32,500,000. It is unclear what Arsenal decides to do with this offer, but if they accept, the Premier League title could be in their sights. As for United, this would put Ashley Young into a starting role.

Nani Deal Doesn't Happen, Stays at United

According to a report from ESPN FC, Arsene Wegner has decided to reject Manchester United's 32 and a half million dollar counter offer for Nani. Originally, Arsenal wanted to only pay 29 and a half, but Manchester United was standing by a 35 million dollar price. However, KJ King lowered it to $32,500,000 to see if Arsenal would bite. They didn't and King was left with the Portuguese wide man who never quite lived up to his "next Ronaldo" hype. Said Nani "Playing for Arsenal would have been great, but I have to put that behind and play at my best here in Manchester." Nani is in a competition with Ashley Young for the spot, and will have to establish himself in the preseason.

United Adds Another Winger, Brings in Lennon

Aaron Lennon is considered by many to be one of the fastest, if not the fastest, man in the Barclay's premier League. Now he is taking his wheels to Manchester, where he will join Manchester United. New manager KJ King reportedly bought the right midfielder for 14 million dollars. Lennon signed a 4 year contract, and he will earn $70,000 a week. Says Lennon "I didn't want to leave Tottenham. But when [manager Andre] Villas-Boas told me it was Man U, I had to accept. As an Englishman, it is an honor to play at a top club like this one, along top players from England like Wayne Rooney." When Rooney was asked about Lennon, he was in awe of his speed.t "He is really fast. Once he is by you, your done. Your not catching him," he told reporters, "And you can't stop him from getting by you. He is very talented." King said he hopes his new transfer will play well. "He has incredible speed." King told reporters, "If he can harness that, and use his dribbling skills, and send in great crosses, we could be scary this season." The 25 year old will provide competition for Antonio Valencia, and may start depending on his performances in the preseason, which kicks off tomorrow versus AC Ajaccio.

                          5 Question for Manchester United

                          By:Kevin Perry
The Season gets underway for Manchester United today, as they take on Ligue 1 side AC Ajaccio in Old Trafford. Can they win the title, is the obvious question, but others lie hidden in the depths. They are:

                          1.
Who Will Start on the Wings?

Left Mid: This battle is between Nani(left) and Ashley Young. Nani will look to put the recent transfer saga regarding and reward his new manager's faith by having a good performance in his start today. But, if the 25 year old Nani doesn't perform well, that could be bad news for him, as Young will wait in the wing. King could choose to ride the hot foot, or have a rotation, but in this wide open battle our prediction is Ashley Young.

Right Mid: It feels like yesterday when Manchester United got Aaron Lennon from Tottenham. Oh, that's right, it was. Lennon will be starting today, as announced earlier. And, going forward, Lennon may be the more attractive option for manager KJ King, because A) he bought him and B) He's better. If Antonio Valencia plays out of his mind next game and in a half of play in the third friendly, he could be starting come opening day. But we think Lennon wins this position battle.

                          2. Can Chichartio Play Every Day?

Javier "Chicirito" Hernandez was a supersub for United last season, starting just 22 games, but coming on 14 times as a substitute. He scored 10 goals last Premier League campaign, and new manager KJ King believes he can build on that. "Yeah, I think he can score 15-20 goals." King said. When asked if he could play every day, King was optimistic. "I sure hope he can. We are going to start him this year, I hope he can go the full 90 minutes." Maybe the reason Hernandez didn't start last season was he couldn't play the whole game, so Sir Alex let him come on later when he would be most effective. only time will tell if he can play 90 minutes and still be a prolific goal scorer.

                          3. How Will the Goalies Play?

David de Gea(left) and Alexis Lindegaard are both very talented goalkeepers. However, the are both very inconsistent. Lindegaard, who will most likely be the backup this season, won't be under the spotlight, making just 13 appearances for United and making a underwhelming 38 saves, while letting in 9 goals. Meanwhile de Gea, who could end up replacing Iker Casilas in net for Spain at the 2014 World Cup, can make briliant saves and boneheaded places in the same game. De Gea's stats last year were good, with 136 saves, 15 clean sheets, and allowed 39 goals. De Gea needsa to be a rock and lead the defense, which leads us to our next question.

                          4. Can United Stop Teams From Scoring?

Last season, Manchester United was absolutely killed at home by rivals Manchester City 6-1. Now, with a new manager, and a new defender, questions loom about United's capability to defend. Under King's new philosophy, United will play a 4-3-1-2. Now, Rafael and Patrice Evra are very good attacking defenders, and provide great overlapping runs to provide crosses for the men in the box. Shinji Kajawa will be pushing up with the attack, and not staying back with the D, so often Manchester United will only have two men back. Those men will be Nemanja Vidic and Nevin Subotic, so there isn't to much cause for worry. But if they are having an off , United has to turn to up and down Rio Ferdinand or any combination of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Johney Evans. Not exactly world class. Combine that with a shaky goalie, and give the other team a few quick strikers, it is a recipe for disaster.

                          5. Who Will Leave United?

Manager KJ King transfer listed Michael Carrick. He is likely to leave United this season. The bigger question is, who else will? Many people believe King is shopping Nani after he almost went to Arsenal. However, if he has a strong preseason, Ashley Young could go on the chopping block. And Antonio Valencia may be on his way out. Ever since Aaron Lennon came to Manchester, it is stiff competition for the right mid. I think Carrick, Nani, and Valencia leave during this transfer window.
