Re: Madden 25 Playbooks - Run Free and Infinite Engine 2
I believe he's speculating with reference to the Microsoft next-generation XBOX reveal event, not anything Madden-specific.
To the end of the write-ups, I agree with a couple posters above - this is basically the same stuff as was described as new in NCAA, though I'm not sure if NCAA is going to have the LT/L2 "precision moves" mechanic detailed here? I don't remember hearing about it for that game, someone tell me if I'm wrong.Comment

Re: Madden 25 Playbooks - Run Free and Infinite Engine 2
(didn't see this thread at first so apologies for the double post)
"The defense also had more big hit moments (not sure if its because my thumbs are weapons) or because of the new heat-seeker control. I felt like when I had to go for risky tackles or take on blockers, I still had a chance to lunge and make a play. Lastly, don’t hurdle towards my player in Madden 25, I never go low…Or do I? #Lockup"
Anyone else find the need for EA to equalise their overpowering of offense with CPU assistance reeks of laziness and uninspired/fundamentally flawed game design?
Defense is basically being relegated to CPU determining the outcome with hardly any skill required.
Timing a tackle will disappear, as will timing an interception... Yet the fundamentals (coverage/pursuit) that really effect these things will be ignored and glossed over... Typical.
Can't be any less excited for Madden after reading that article.Comment

I have a feeling that this heat seeker tackling is just the defensive assist button now being used for tackling. Hold down a or x and your guy automatically runs to the ball similar to the ball hawk mechanic they added last year for automatically getting your defender in position make a play on a pass. Just more things to cater to the casuals who emailed EA telling them it was too hard to tackle lol.Comment

Both of these aren't sexy in writing or video. I'm intrigued to see how it feels when you're playing though and also how the CPU executes the moves. They mention how worse backs won't be able to execute the moves as well, the only thing that worries me is that playing on All-Madden will still just turn every back into a Earl Campbell-Barry Sanders hybrid.Comment

So again EA is focus more on the run game than the passing game. There is no mention of pass blocking really. Only that the line have been improved. So its apparent that the OL/DL interactions for passing haven't really been addressed, and possible no double-team pass blocking at all. This is a tragedy for-real. The OL/DL is a fundamental core basic. WOW where is the strategy in the passing game when u have the same thing since 2011 concerning blocks and counters. What about the 3 man rush??? Will we have the same sliding by OL men with 3 guys like before...come on EA!!!!!Comment

"Last but not least, defensive pursuit angles have been tuned so that defenders are smarter about tracking down ball carriers. Combined that with the breakdown animation and recovery ability, defensive-minded players will have plenty of moves to choose from."

Jax, really smoke?
I was thinking more along the lines of Scorpions "get over here!" because we all know that best simulates the suction-tackling we have seen over the years - may as well celebrate the D while we are here for the countdown *looks away*.
Looking back, we all know they mean heat-seeking missiles - those TNT dynamite tackles were too messy *looks away smirking*
