I don't have anything against Barry Sanders but whenever his shortened career comes up it reminds me that as a Redskins fan he ALMOST was on our team but the muthergobsucking Lions wouldn't let him out of his contract so he retired.

Nothing like having a "legend" on the cover who had one of the worst playoff performances of all-time. _1 yd rushing on 13 carries. he gained a whole yard that day on the 16 touches he had. what a great player

Two reasons one it makes complete sense that Barry Sanders is on the cover, and one that people seem to ignore.

Reason number one being Barry Sanders is one of the greatest running backs to ever play the game if not THE best ever.

Reason number two being this is year Madden is celebrating 25 years which then would make sense for a game to feature a legend of the cover.

Within this 25 year Madden time frame Barry Sanders has done more than Adrian Peterson has so far.

You must not be old enough to remember how good Barry Sanders was and how bad his Lions teams were. Maybe because you are a bitter Packers fan? Who knows. I have been a Bucs fan all my life and back then we were in that division with Barry Sanders, and I can tell you I didn't mind one bit watching that beast run all over us. I can appreciate a true legend wether he was a rival or not. Don't let your biased cloud your vision.

You must not be old enough to remember how good Barry Sanders was and how bad his Lions teams were. Maybe because you are a bitter Packers fan? Who knows. I have been a Bucs fan all my life and back then we were in that division with Barry Sanders, and I can tell you I didn't mind one bit watching that beast run all over us. If I were a Bucs fan, I guess I wouldn't mind it either, considering your team didn't have much to offer you. I don't like him because he is overhyped. In 6 career playoff games he had 386 yards on 91 carries. almost half of those yards came in a game against the Packers where he went 27 for 169. eliminate that one game, he averaged under 2.4 yards per carry. The only thing about him that is less impressive, is his career playoff touchdowns: a grand total of 1. That was an unimportant 47 yard run in a 31-6 game against DAL, in the 4th quarter. That game he had 69 yards. He really showed up in the playoffs. imagined if he played when it was actual football, when every other team wasn't on turf. If he played when Jim Brown played, he wouldn't have had 5000 yds rushing.

Exactly the point I am making. There is only so much one man can do. All of those Lions teams that Barry Sanders played on were awful. They never had a quarterback that I can remember, and the offensive line was a complete joke. For Sanders to do what he did with those Lions teams was nothing short of spectacular. I can't for the life of me believe anyone can argue against Barry Sanders being worthy of the Madden cover. If you watched him play you would know how good he was. If you didn't watch him play you could do what you said you did and go back watch highlights, tapes or whatever you see fit and see just how great he was. I hate how people have their biased opinions cloud their vision and judgment. Not referring to you of course. The point is if you haven't seen him play or seen his highlights and are only referencing stats then you have it all wrong.
