    Presentation, Presentation, Presentation!!

When's the last time they updated presentation for this game???

Same commentary, same arenas, same stat overlays, same crowd, etc for the past 3 or 4 years. Now, I know this is the last game on this gen so it probably won't be touched this year, but for next gen I really hope they look to improve presentation.

I want more authentic arenas. For example, the Tampa Bay Times Forum...

I think the organ would look awesome in the game. Also, the crowd needs some improvement. Maybe some arena specific chants and team specific goal horn/songs (doubt that's possible though). I know a lot of arenas are generic looking, but most of them have something unique about them.

What would you guys like to see added to presentation??

And I would obviously like to see gameplay fixed before presentation, but it's 2013. We should have both by now.

I'm with you. Presentation needs a major update for 14.

ALL TEAM specific intros, more stat overlays. Each intermission, go around your league and report scores (highlights would also be great).

Late in the season reports on the playoff picture. Goal specific songs (doubt we will ever see that by EA since they want us to do that on our own)

    Ice level reporting...

The closest they did to updating arenas was last year's slight improvement.

I don't epect any major presentation improvements until next gen, unfortunately.

THey forgot about Carolina, Dallas, Detroit, Vancouver, JUST to name a few of the unique intros teams have in the NHL.

          Dissapointing.

No way they would be able to get the actual break in play music and other moment specific songs, just maybe the organs but that is about it.
            What?

"if its in the game...dont expect it in EA game" should be the motto of EA, particularly NHL series.

seriously, this is one of the things i will pay close attention to before deciding to buy or not.

I feel like they've been neglecting the European leagues as well. I get that the main focus is on the NHL but for an example:

When you play a home game with a team from the Swedish Elitserien you always play in the Globe Arena. However, no team actually play there.
But, when you play a home game with Sweden's national team (who actually plays in the Globe Arena) you play in a generic weird supposed to be European arena.

I mean what the h!? It may be a small issue for some but it just feels so ridiculous sometimes.

When it works correctly, the custom music is a great feature for this very reason.

Custom intros for ALL teams would add a TON of immersion value to the game. We also have a "towel man" in St. Louis... after each goal he stands up, swings a towel around and the the crowd yells the goals in order.. 1, 2, 3..

One thing people forget is that the music in the arena's is copyrighted by the artists that made the songs. In order for EA to use that music, they need to get permission from the song writer to use it in the game, unless they are generic "hockey" songs. For example, "The Hockey Song" by Stompin Tom is not in the game, yet it is played in almost every hockey arena. I think a lot of people don't understand this and get all mad. At least they allow us to use our own customer music.

And I am fine with presentation as it is nw because I completely understand that if they want to add dynamic crowds and multiple refs, we would lose room on the discs and all frame rate may be an issue. I truly feel that we will see major changes once the new generation of video game units comes out.

Yes, it is very hard for EA to include custom music because they would have to do alot more work to get it when compared to the arenas.

However, I can't agree with your statement regarding presentation. The NHL 2k series, for a number of years, was better graphically than EA's titles and all of the referees were present on the ice. The NBA 2k series, even the Madden series has paid more attention to detail concerning presentation.

EA NHL shouldn't be given the "Cop Out" that oh, they won't have enough space on the disk and so on. This just isn't completely true. It all has to do with how they code their game.

EA has worked a lot on their skating engine and I get that. I really don't think I want to waste my time fighting.. but I'll reserve judgement when I play 14.

Presentation has been neglected for a LONG time now and I'm sick of feeling like every game is the same in terms of presentation. It's stale and some freshness is LONG overdue.

Do we really need "Fight Night" fighting in the game? Not if takes away development time they could put into a complete presentation overhaul.

Look at the NBA 2k series, that's how you do presentation.

Fighting is part of the game and very effective, presentation is something that is not.
