Expectations are high for the Indiana Pacers this season. The heart breaking elimination against the Miami Heat stung, but Pacers are poised to make another run at the playoffs. Their confidence is at an all-time high considering how they gave the eventual NBA Champs everything that they could handle in their series. Indiana is confident that they are ready to take the next step this year

        2012 NBA Draft: Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers selected Miles Plumlee out of Duke University with their 1st round pick. Plumlee will look to develop his game while coming off the bench behind Roy Hibbert, David West, and Tyler Hansbrough. The Pacers like the physicality that Plumlee brings to the table and feel as though they can develop him over time so that he can become a solid role player. Plumlee is also from the state of Indiana.

Orlando Johnson was also acquired on draft night. Pacers' management hopes that Johnson will be able to score from distance, while providing defensive toughness. He will likely not see much action behind Paul George, and Lance Stephenson

        OFF-SEASON TRADES

The Pacers made one off-season trade. They traded Gerald Green, and Ian Mahinmi to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for DeSagana Diop. Pacers' management stated that the deal was made for financial reasons. They made sure to mention how much they appreciated how hard Green played during his time with the Pacers and that they wished them both the best of luck going forward. Diop will likely not see much action playing behind Roy Hibbert, David West, and Tyler Hansbrough.

BREAKING: Danny Granger guarantees the the Pacers will make it to the NBA Finals

-Following a team shoot around, Danny Granger was asked how he felt about the upcoming NBA season. Granger responded with a very bold statement. He assured all of the reporters of the fact that "The Pacers will be in the finals this year, I guarantee it." Granger continued to make bold claims as the press conference progressed.

"We feel as though we are ready. Simple as that. Last season we ended up losing to a good team. A good team that got great calls. We were also a good team last year, but we got better. That's all I am saying about that, this year it is gonna take a lot more than a few calls to eliminate us. We'll be in the finals. Take that to the bank." Granger finished his interview in dramatic fashion.

"I bet if it was Lebron up here saying this everyone would love it, but because its me up here, y'all will take it wrong. Wonder why we don't have but two nationally televised games this season. We play physical basketball. Nothing flashy and y'all don't like it because it don't get ratings. It's okay though, it's all good. Y'all will have to put us on TV when we march to the finals this year. That's money in the bank."

Granger then stood up, and walked out of the room, despite reporters attempting to ask further questions.

None of the Pacers' management would comment on the event. David Stern issued a statement saying that the he was aware that certain comments were made, and he would act accordingly to address them.

BREAKING: Pacers Forward Danny Granger fined $35,000 for his comments

-The NBA has fined Pacers forward Danny Granger $35,000 for his comments made in a press conference following yesterday's team shootaround. David Stern was not impressed with Granger's comments and felt "inclined to make an example out of him."

"I am very disappointed in what he chose to say. Let this be a warning to him that if comments of a similar nature are made again, he will be suspended and that is final. I feel inclined to make an example out of him. I am the boss, and he is the employee. There is no room for those comments. Not from an employee. You just can't say some things and not expect consequences."

Stern quickly changed the subject, and began talking about how excited he was for the start of a new year.

Pacers fans are relieved that Stern did not suspend him for their season opener with Toronto later today. Granger was not available to be reached. Pacers management declined to speak in debt about the issue. Pacers head coach Frank Vogel simple said "What's done is done. Simple as that. Time to move on. Next question."

Granger did tweet three times following the announcement of the fine. His tweets are listed below.

                  @DannyG33: "Wow..."

@DannyG33: "If you don't want the answer then don't ask.. easy as that! #tyrant"

@DannyG33: "Man whatever, haters gonna hate, I got to mentally move on and prepare myself for tonight #PacerNation where yall at? #OpeningDay"

Pacer teammate Roy Hibbert also tweeted a controversial tweet following the announcement of Granger's fine.

@BigRoy55pacer: "What kind of world do we live in where dudes get fined for speaking whats on their mind #crazy #haters"

The Pacers will take on the Toronto Raptors tonight at 8pm EST. Granger is expected to start.

                    Pacers Cruise past Raptors

-The Indiana Pacers won easily over the Toronto Raptors, 94-75. They used a balanced scoring effort to earn the victory as no Pacer notched 20 points or more. David West led the Pacers with 18 points to go along with his 9 rebounds. Danny Granger scored 16 points, and Paul George added 15.

When asked about the outcome of the game, player of the game David West replied. "We're a family. We are always looking to help each other out. We don't have any stars on this team so if we're gonna win we're gonna have to play as one. We did that tonight."

Pacers' center Roy Hibbert notched 11 points as the only other Pacer to break into double digits. This was Hibbert's first game since signing the maximum contract extension to return to Indiana for 5 more seasons.

The Raptors looked disjointed at times on offense. Everyone struggled to find their rhythm with the exception of Rudy Gay. Gay registered 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. While Gay's performance was impressive, Toronto will have to find a way to work together if they hope to compete with top teams in the Eastern conference like Indiana.

The Pacers bench scored 31 points in the win against the Raptors. The unity of this team is unreal at this stage in the season. Head coach Frank Vogel responded to the question of how he has this team playing so well together this early...

"We believe in our mission, and we are motivated to achieve our goals. We need to win in order to get to where we want to be. In order to do that we have to play hard every night. Tonight we worked hard and left everything we had out there on the floor. I'm proud of our guys."

The only concern about the game is the terrible game that Lance Stephenson had. Stephenson finished the game with 8 points on 3-12 shooting from the field. Stephenson has a lot of expectations on him heading into this year so it is possible that he is feeling the heat.

The Pacers next game will be November 2nd, on the road against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Pacers win Defensive Battle with Bobcats, Improve to 2-0

-The Indiana Pacers defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 93-76, to improve to 2-0. This is also their second road win. For the second game in a row, the Indiana Pacers used a balanced scoring attack to win the game. Danny Granger led the Indiana Pacers with 21 points. Roy Hibbert, David West, and Paul George each contributed 12 points. Lance Stephenson led all scorers off the bench for Indiana with 10. While their offensive numbers were not impressive, their defensive intensity helped Indiana hold Charlotte to 35% shooting from the field. Kemba Walker led the Bobcats in scoring with 26 points. He was one of only 2 Bobcats to reach double digits.

This was the first time that Pacers gaurd DJ Augisitine returned to Charlotte since signing with the Pacers during the off-season. Augisitine had 6 points and 4 assists in his return. This was also the first time Indiana has played against Gerald Green, and Ian Mahinmi since trading them during the off-season. Green had 15 points and 4 rebounds to lead all scorers off the bench for the Bobcats.

During the post game interview, player of the game Danny Granger was asked about his impression of the way the game played out.

"We played a great game, from start to finish. Everything was working, we were hitting threes, David and Roy were scoring with ease on the block, my boy Lance got going off the bench. It was a fun game. No disrespect to Charlotte, they play a tough and intense brand of basketball, but they just aren't up to the task of knocking us off when we're playing at our potential."

When asked how he has managed to put together two solid performances in wake of the drama surrounding the $35,000 fine, Granger responded in dramatic fashion.

"Did that happen tonight? Does that relate to this game? Did I get another fine? No? Then move on then. All you guys want is a story, or some drama and (explicit), but you're not getting it from me. I answered questions truthfully in the past and they are gonna act like that isn't okay. Well then fine, ask me about basketball, and I'll talk basketball, don't ask me about no other (explicit)!"

The reporter then insisted that the comments made that caused Granger to get fined were about basketball as well. The reporter then asked if Granger would back down from his original stance about the Miami Heat, or the guarantee that he made for the Pacers to be in the finals. Granger stared blankly at the reporter for a long time before answering.

"Wow, they oughta fine you for asking stupid questions. Get outta here with that. I'm not backing down from it, that's how its gonna happen. Period. It's going to take more than a fine to break me. Pacers will be in the finals this year, end of story. There! You happy? I'm out."

Granger was not available to answer any more questions. Pacers' management did not comment on the statements made by Danny Granger in the post game interview.
