Re: EA Pushes Back Connected Franchise Playbook to May 20th
I'm getting old. I've been a member of OS for damn near 2 decades now. Ive been here when EA didnt know what the hell OS was. I was here when 2k recognized what OS was and people said we were biased towards 2k. I was here when the exclusive deal started and the site damn near blew up because of it. I was here during the bad David Ortiz years. I was here when Ian and the rest of his cronies buttered up the members at OS and tried to sell us on how they wanted the game to be sim. Suffice it to say I've been here a long time.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

Re: EA Pushes Back Connected Franchise Playbook to May 20th
EA has bigger news to unleash this afternoon, as it turns out. A friend with Disney just tipped me to them all but locked to take over the new Star Wars game.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

Re: EA Pushes Back Connected Franchise Playbook to May 20th
I say all of that to say that Ive seen it all and if one thing EA has been is consistent when it comes to the game. Madden has and always will be a football game geared toward arcade and tournament players with some sim options. No matter what EA says on OS, in a blog, in a video, in an article or at E3....the game will never be a sim and will probably never reach the level of simulation that other games have.
So that goes back to the point about insanity. For 9 yrs, EA has been inconsistent with PR. They promise OSers changes to the game to make it more sim and they always fail to meet our expectations. Part of it is because their intention is to do what ever they can to get us to buy the game and part of it is out expectations are sometimes too high.
My point is if you know the PR is skewed to make you buy the game by any means necessary and you have 9 yrs of evidence from games that fail to meet your level of expectation....why would you be upset about having to wait for information that is likely not meet your expectations and will based on past experiences likely disappoint?
Some good points yes...Now some background on me...I purchased the first Madden in 1998(?) I believe it was, and then Madden 2...I then found Front Page Sports Football and didn't even consider Madden until 2004...I played FB Pro 98 until 2004, believe it or not; was in a great league that kept the game alive....
In 2004 Madden was till on the PC which allowed for modders to fix many EA errors, so it was bearable....After the PC drop I didn't touch or follow Madden until 2010; didn't follow forums and online detail until just prior to 2012, so yes I am a rookie to Madden disappointments and such; though I have been involved with computers and gaming for over 2 decades so I do understand the hype machine too....
To the point; I am not really upset, maybe a little disappointed, but disappointment comes from expectation; even you admitted to being disappointed in the removal of 32 team control; which knowing how EA Tiburon adds and subtracts features from each iteration, can be said that no one should be disappointed, if we use your logic, as we know how EA Tirburon runs...But even though WE know, we can still have expectations, which can lead to those disappointments....
My main argument was not against being disappointed, as we are all capable of with Madden, but with the use of the term "insanity" being used to counter gamer negative remarks in regards to the disappointment in the news update delay....People are showing disappointment, not insanity....If it is insanity, then we are all falling down the rabbit hole here and maybe we can do without the finger pointing between forum members?
Anyway, no hard feelings, the debating was fun; I love to debate and enjoy every chance to practice, many times taking the hardest position to defend, as well as taking on subjects I know the least about, just for the education...You made your point very well... :-)Comment

Confirmed - http://www.comingsoon.net/news/gamenews.php?id=103846
You guys now understand my first post in this thread about if we had internet 30+ years ago between Star Wars release dates...was trying to foreshadow and yet be tricky enough about it all. Anyway, the cats out, and seriously...no one here will even begin to compare to the kind of complaining that EA will face, should the Star Wars games not be functionally done well enough.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

EDIT: and there you go. EA wasn't going to allow one of these reveals to get buried under the other. Now we know the reason for the delay. Put the cover back on the panic button.Last edited by XtremeDunkz; 05-06-2013, 03:33 PM.Comment

If that is in fact true and gets announced it would make this delay more understandable.

I don't really care about Star Wars games but this maybe true, Disney cancelled their Star Wars games development and cut the staff some weeks ago. And it's been rumored that they were shopping the license around to other developers.
I wouldn't let them off the hook though, this announcement is way bigger than just a Madden blog and the two crowds are probably different for the most part.Last edited by ghettogeeksta; 05-06-2013, 03:46 PM.Comment

Re: EA Pushes Back Connected Franchise Playbook to May 20th
If they would have announced this push back any time before today my disappointment level would be no higher then a 1. But when you go to bed expecting to get the info and wake up and get indications you'll be getting info that night and the CFM head is going to do a podcast interview AND THEN get the info it has been pushed back two weeks to do it all at once feels like a slap in the face. It's not real painful but it's stunning and makes me feel stupid for getting excited for Madden info.
When I first saw the schedule where CFM was separated into two blog releases I thought it was pretty dumb because everybody would only be asking about the stuff that's going to get released on the 2nd blog where I assumed the meat of it would be. But they, EA sports, decided to release this schedule and you know they put more into marketing then anything else so there's no excuse to waiting the day of to delay it 2 weeks.Comment

Re: EA Pushes Back Connected Franchise Playbook to May 20th
I hope they take their own advice and delay the next-gen Madden til 2014, but they probably won't because they can't miss out of a few next-gen sales, anyway
I really don't care that they pushed it back, I wasn't going to buy Madden on the current gen consoles anyway because I can tell by the trailers that the game-play is still very unrealistic and all the legacy issues still exist, and I can't get excited about Connected Career or Franchise or anything else if the game-play ain't right. What I am really looking forward to is news about the next-gen Madden.
As far as why they pushed Connected Franchise part 1 back I don't know but I am thinking a feature didn't make the cut. Them not wanting to trump the Star Wars announcement doesn't make sense because its apples and oranges most of my friends don't even know EA releases blogs.
Just because a EA public relations person get's on here and says they are not cutting features doesn't hold to much weight because we don't know what they had planned in the first place, PR is just doing their job. So to me only two possible reasons make sense.... 1. They just wanted to release all the news at once and changed their mind at the last second for some reason.
2. A feature or two didn't make the cut and they need time to revise the blog presentation.Comment

Re: EA Pushes Back Connected Franchise Playbook to May 20th
Just read another post in another thread so wanted to ask this ITT. Does the embargo still lift after 9pm for other sources or do they have to wait until May 20th too?Comment

In reference to why the delay, not going to loose sleep over the decision, it is what it is.Comment
