I got Phil Steele for last season and didn't like the part that all the projections were mostly him bragging about his past accurate projections. Yes he gives a lot of statistics about each team but when I go to read about the team he keeps saying stuff like "Well, 2 years ago I predicted them to not go to a bowl and was right. Last year predicted them to go to a bowl game and was right also." We get it dude. Your good at what you do, now tell me about the actual team please and not your predictions that came true.

                          Re: COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW BOOKS

Picked up Phil Steele's mag today and I'm really growing tired of his work. I hate how every position preview for a team, he starts listing off information from 7 years ago. Like for Ole Miss, his first sentence for the QB's is about records Eli Manning broke 10 years ago. Really? Why is that relevant? I want to know about THIS YEAR'S TEAM. It seems like sometimes he just lists info to fill space, but the worst part about it is how lazy he is about it.

Compare to the 2012 and 2013 Steele mags side-by-side and you will see a lot of stuff from last year is simply copy and pasted into this year. Almost the entire section on Ole Miss QB's in this year's is word-for-word from 2012. Same for a lot of the Miami QBs section or the LSU WR section and Penn State RB section for this year. Those are just ones I noticed from quickly flipping through.

That said, given how much OLD info he has in his book, combined with the fact that a lot of it is by and large just copied from previous editions, I'm going to find it hard to shell out $10 for his 2014 magazine. Think I'm sticking with Lindy and Athlon from now on.

YES! I can't believe people love this magazine. I bought it last year and NEVER again will I buy it for all the reasons to mentioned. When he's not giving a full historical recap, he brags about his predictions made correctly in the past. ex. His forecast for a team goes something like this "Well 2 years ago i predicted they would surprise people and make a bowl game, and they did." I really don't care. Sometimes when reading a full page on a team in his magazine I barely would learn anything new about the team other than some random statistic from 4 years ago that he felt the need to add.

I picked up Steele's the other day, and it has a lot of good info. But I think I'll go with a different one next year, it does seem like he hypes himself up too much.
