Dude. No. No. No. No. No. No.
NBA 2K has been better since 2K5. Live was at it's peak of arcadeyness in Live 05 and 2K recovered from it's terrible game in 2k4 (they did have periods in making bad games every off year like in NFL2K) to make an excellent game in NBA 2k5 getting the highest rated title that year.
Then the next gen consoles came and Live screwed over everyone for 4 YEARS with absolutely DREADFUL games games. Live 06 for the current consoles (360 and PS3) was THE WORST basketball game in existence and while 2K6 wasn't spectacular, it was by no means a bad game. 2K happened to win by default in 06 because Live was sooo bad.
Live 07 was as dreadful as 06 while NBA 2k7 drastically improved i's game while also leading the way to what we term "Signature Animations". The majority of the starters on a team had thier own shot animations. It was the first time we (as gamers) have ever seen that level of detail in a sports game.
Live 08 was more of the same dreadfulness as Live 06 and was still terrible. Then NBA 2k8 came out, improved its signature animations even more and was regarded as the pinnacle of a game embodying the sim standard (until 2k11, but more on that later).
Live 09 was terrible and NBA 2K was only slightly less terrible at time.
Live 10 was the only good game EA had made at this point in the next gen consoles (Sports wise). NBA 2k10 was meh because of the spacing issue. I would give Live the edge for.
Of course EA couldn't have this happen for long and in one of the worst game design decisions ever made (They haven't made a basketball game since and it's STILL RECOVERING) decided to put a hockey guy in charge of a basketball game. 2K responded with making what is regarded to be the best basketball game ever made.
DO NOT use NBA Live to try and support your point. It weakens your argument inherently with the mess Live was this gen.
