Do coach profiles effect Sim stats?
As the thread titles says. I have seen half roster and slider makers say that it doesn't, and the other half say that it does. Anyone know for sure?Tags: None -
Re: Do coach profiles effect Sim stats?
I like that finally 2k has separated the variables that influence oncourt actions of those related to the sim engine ... by the way, we now can also directly influence how much the opponent scores (the ppg allowed by your defense) ...
What I now hope for, is for an expansion of it ... the previous nature of tempo allowed for much tighter results as you had a wider range, instead of just the 4 or 5 preset results, it would be better to have that wider range back (also for defense) ... also hope for an upgrade of some of the sim stats results produced by a few of the ratings, such as assists, rebounds and blocks, so they account for a wider range of results.Last edited by ffaacc03; 05-25-2013, 12:47 PM.Comment

No longer for 2k13 ... since the introduction of TSC, that is influenced by type of offense: Milk clock, neutral, quick shots, run and gun ...

This would allow for a wider scale range rather than the presets, but still maintaining the preset nature as well. So you could have a run n gun preset that default to 85 (for ex) and then you could tweak it to say 90, 92, w/e if needed. This would give each preset some wiggle room to play with.Comment

Re: Do coach profiles effect Sim stats?
As far as my personal opinion, based on multiple simmed seasons while tayloring my roster project.
TSC edits dont necessarily have to go in line with what teams do in real life or reflect their oncourt actions (coaching profiles) ... I personally go each variable at a time, starting from teams overall shot attempts and trying to match stats as close as possible to those obtained by the teams in real life.
I would recommend using TSC only after having a worthy custom roster, but you can try and influence the sim stats results even when using deafult rosters ... before my PS3 went down I got almost perfect results ... I strongly encourage you to experiment with it, it is worth it.Last edited by ffaacc03; 05-25-2013, 11:08 PM.Comment

I'm playing on PP's collab roster which i have very heavily edited, and am seeing some very good results for players stats, but the team stats could definately be better, i'm just not sure where to set most of my coaching profiles at.Comment

Re: Do coach profiles effect Sim stats?
I "might" get the PS3 back by next week but the technician, among other things, replaced the hard drive so I am sure my roster is lost. I may have some early notes but if I get the console fixed, I will do it all again using the end of season stats ... then again, it should take me more than a while (a month or two).
It is really not that difficult to come up with them, as there are only a few pre set ranges of results. Just have a base association, with all rotations edited to match last season. Make multiple copies (3), just in case.
Use one to see the sim engine results and compare it vs real life stats, then take notes. See how deviated teams are in points per game and field goal attempts per game.
Then use the second file and either click up or down on the TSC setting that has the options milk clock, normal, quick shots, run and gun. The same for defense. Run the association, see the new results and edit accordingly.
You may need to keep doing this (2-3 times more), so, use the unused association to overwrite one of the previoust two and start over.Comment

1. Do you remember how you treated run plays and attack the basket in the coach profiles? Did you leave either one at zero for every team?
2. Do you remember how you treated shot distribution in the coach profiles? Take inside shots, close shots, mid range and 3pt. Did you make sure you kept 3pt higher than the others?Comment
