looks like cgi to me, I'll wait till I see actual gameplay before giving a true opinion on it. Bouncetek does sound good. Hopefully it's not a gimmick

Re: NBA LIVE 14 Trailer - E3 2013: Xbox One & PS4
I'm all on board, they had me sold at the hourly stat updates. Ill be preordering both Live14 and 2K14. Just not sure which console yet. I don't quite understand the hate. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Everything looked good besides the player models being a bit skinny.Comment

I'm sad to say I'm underwhelmed. During e3 they said it was a trailer, not ingame footage. I wanna see game play cause a pre rendered trailer doesn't tell you anything.

My thoughts on how replays should be handled:

They do need to fix the bodies, they do seem a bit thin. Also, maybe adding some muscle tone would go a long ways.
I was most impressed when it showed Kyrie just standing there dribbling, the way the jersey and shorts and even his feet moved looked great to me.
I'm cautiously optimistic, but competition is going to bring out the best in both. For the first time, I may consider buying both games... Or I'll get 2K and wait to hear the reviews about EA. But either way, I was very impressed by what they brought to the table. Nice work, EA.NBA
Charlotte HORNETS
NFL
Carolina Panthers
College
Carolina Tar Heels
Won't change until:
1) Hornets win a playoff game
2) Panthers win a Super Bowl
3) Tar Heels win another championship (Completed: 4/3/2017)

Re: NBA LIVE 14 Trailer - E3 2013: Xbox One & PS4
This looks wayyyyyy better than what they showed at the xbox one presser and that dribbling demo looked pretty good imo. I know dribbling is important but I wish these sportd games in general would lead with improved playbooks/a.i. over dribbling, free-run,etc.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Thats what im wondering. Was that ingame graphics when he was standing there dribbling? If so nice, if close to that cant complain.Comment

Re: NBA LIVE 14 Trailer - E3 2013: Xbox One & PS4
I love the focus on dribbling. Looks like it will be a mix of elite which since it was never released/perfected it is a new feature and not some rehash. Dribbling and making moves is what makes basketball games fun and the reason why I prefer live. It has always had better dribbling controls and execution.Comment

Re: NBA LIVE 14 Trailer - E3 2013: Xbox One & PS4
Honestly at this point, NOTHING will make me buy Live over 2K.
The only thing that could make me purchase Live is if they have Crew in it and 2K doesn't, or they really bring something to the table to prove to me (as a former fan of the franchise) that they can still make a viable basketball game.
Let's be honest, the models STILL look terrible. I understand as a basketball player myself that lots of players are tall and lanky...but everyone doesn't look like Gumby lol. Deandre Jordan is like 250 lbs right? He shouldn't be as skinny as Kyrie.
If the graphics actually look like that in-game than that's pretty impressive, but as a whole it kind of takes a hit if every player looks like that.
I agree 100% with this post. The player models are STILL horrible and player movement is STILL robotic when this late in the series it should be more fluent but it's not. There's a BIG attention to detail difference in DeAndrea Jordan's face vs. Kyrie Irving's face. DeAndrea Jordan looks like a CRACKhead.
These player models should be well proportioned by now also but they're not. I don't want to hear about gimmicks like BOUNCETEK when there clearly is NO solid glimpses of ingame video footage like everyone else brought to the table for E3. . .
I want so much to like EA's NBA Live, Madden and Ncaa series games like I use to but the TRUTH of the matter STILL remains. . . it's NOT in the game
Love, hate or report my comment all you want. EA needs to stop talking and start delivering.Where they DO that? ? ?Comment

Idk what I'm watching to judge. So I personally can't say. Is it gameplay or cgi? Regardless graphics dnt look bad but everyone looks they grandma wouldnt let them out the house with out puttin vaseline on. Then they sweated on top of that. Lol matter fact look like dey took a Vaseline bath and deandre Jordan look like he spent all his 40 mil on hair sheen.
I dnt like the concept of dribble first, I prefer defense be the starting ground. But I will say its good and bad for its own reasons. Good cuz dribbling was always something they did well. Their dribble stick(any year) is better than 2k13s. Bad cuz that was never the issue. Everything else except the dribbling was wat was wrong with live to me. Unless u had the ball it was difficult to do the simplest things.Comment

Re: NBA LIVE 14 Trailer - E3 2013: Xbox One & PS4
Players are way too thin. I really liked where NBA Live 10 was going and it was the first year I played NBA 2k and Live 50/50.
The Player models look to skinny just like Live 10. Jordan looked like a PG covering Irvin.
The dribbling seems nice and the updates stats.
2Ks biggest weakness is its rosters and the 2k insider. NBA LKive will smke 2k in this area.
When I had NBA Live 10 the Ai was better. I could call for quick plays that worked very nice and the AI got open better.
I can't wait for Live to come back. Doesn't mean I will buy or play it but we'll see how it goes.Comment

Re: NBA LIVE 14 Trailer - E3 2013: Xbox One & PS4
This were exactly my thoughts about 2k13, lol. Funny thing is, people go nuts because of a 2k14 trailer showing a single Lebron dunk. "Wow, look at that dunk, 2k got my money. Gotta have this game...".
Right now, we don't know anything about either games. Based on past fiascos, you can't be confident in EA of course. As bad as 2k handled gameplay and authenticity (if you aren't into NBA Jam gameplay and Skip Bayless for player evaluation), at least they got a funcional game out every year.
But still, not being attached to a specific brand ( which was the main focus of 2k13, maintaining a brand identity and making it the cool thing for kids to own the game), I'm somewhat excited that EA might be on to something. I mean Live 10 had some great ideas and it's not like 2k is far out there gameplay wise.
You have to love the way 2k handles animations, and the sheer number of different jumpshots/dunks/dribble moves is impressive. But still, 2k13 is more style than substance in a lot of way. Just looking at gameplay, I'm less than impressed and don't care if we get Lebron's hairline in full HD in 2k14.
So right now, it could go both ways. We don't know much about the 2 games and it can only be a good thing for quality. The best scenario would be if both EA and 2k release quality games. So I'm looking forward to what EA came up with. What I like about this trailer is that it features a PnR switch causing a mismatch. It's only a stupid trailer, but still, I like that.Last edited by mango_prom; 06-11-2013, 10:30 AM.Comment
