    - Low Post/Inside Scoring Help Please!

Having alot of trouble scoring inside and on the low block,i cant seem to back down the cpu and make a simple jump hook even if if my PF/C is in a mis-match situation or if i have a really good look.

Im not sure if i am releasing too early or too late in the shot and help would be appreciated,I am trying to avoid raising the sliders if it's maybe the timing of my shot.

The success rates for jump hooks are too low there is no help that can really help you or practice. You really need to go to a different move.

Don't do jump hooks unless it's towards the middle of the paint. Hook shots turning away from the basket seem to have a very low success rate. Go to the training camp and learn how to do all the moves. I like the spin move, faceup-and-drive and shimmy shot. And make sure you are using someone good in the post (as if that's not obvious enough). People with Post Proficiency are very good at pulling off the post moves.

I know there was a thread on this maybe back on 2k12 i couldnt seem to find it and i never read through it
A few things that impact the struggle to back down:

        - What sliders are you using
Sliders affect the ratings, therefor, strength might have been affected

        - What difficulty
Difficulty levels have alteration of ratings, maybe strength is affected

        - What roster
2k default does a pretty bad job when applying the strength rating scale, where many guards and wings are stronger than most Cs. A custom roster may very well do the same thing if not propperly scaled.

Hooks execution can be impacted by 4 things:

        - Player rating

        - Shooting areas sliders

        - User shot timing (thus I think post moves release window has been altered/neglected from prior games)

        - Defender rating

          Thanks for the responses!

I might have to go into scrimmage mode and get the release timing right,I havent had much succesd with the fadeaway after backing down either, but im assuming tht may be because of the players mid range rating.

Anybody else think the shimmy shot animation is terrible?.It feels so slow and heavy, and the player kind of looks like he is twisting i preferred the 2k11 shimmy shot animation!

Thanks Facco, Im using Vt/Eaglerocks Roster with a personal slider set on All-Star difficulty...I think it's more my release time im not sure im releasing too early or too late in the animation.

I noticed a mis match on the block and fed the ball to Boozer who was backing down Isaiah Thomas,I Isolated too give Boozer space and control the mis match and still missed.

Position in which you get the ball matters a lot too. Sometimes you can just run a 2 man game and enter it in to the post, pass it back out and then re enter it when he gets a little deeper position. Run some plays for your big man too

Jump hooks work you just have to learn the release points, just like jumpshots.

I agree. If you have a nice post player, I use Pekovic most of the time, back your man down and take a jump hook towards the paint. It took me awhile to learn where the game decides to take fades or jump hooks, but I learned eventually. Also left handed hooks won't work as well.

My post game revolves around the jump hook, but I always use drop steps, fades, and up and unders too.

                      Good Luck!

Yeah it's a weird angle to get the hook shots, you have push the right stick towards(on 2k cam) the 2 o'clock position and the 10 o'clock position. make sure to use the post scorer sig skill too

I generally use the standard Baseline cam!.

I was practicing Low Post moves with David West, I was scoring a little better Inside, I don't hit many shots fading from the Post at all & I have never found that to be a successful "Go too" move.

I generally tend to stay away from using the Up & Under all the time just cuz it's a bit of a cheesy move, and the cpu generally catches on that your using the same move over and over and adjusts!

I use the Aggressive Backdown,Drop Step,Pump Fake to Lay up move cuz it's quick, easy and efficient but sometimes the defence Swarms,Double Teams or simply i get stripped

I'd like to add some more "Flash" to my 2k Post game...maybe some spins and fakes!

What are some Go to Moves/Low Post combinations you guys use?

I have a nice move to mix it up a little and I think it looks cool. First, without dribbling and with back to basket, give the defender a shimmy or two then drive towards the middle of the lane. One you get to the lane do a spin move, double tab circle on PS3, then you should have a open post fade. You can also add an up and under if you want at the end instead of a fadeaway shot.

Well if you're using David West, and you don't have too tall a defender on you, try facing up out of a post up (away from the defender + Triangle/Y), and then shooting a normal fadeaway (away from the goal + Shoot button). He's a good mid-range jump shooter too, so your best bet is to get him an open look from 12-15 feet out.

As for scoring on the block, hook shots don't convert very often unless you're insanely deep in the post. Standard fadeaways and shimmy shots are the most effective "sim" shots. Up-and-Unders are the most effective moves overall, but they're a little overpowered once you learn them, so be careful about abusing these when playing another player. Some consider them "cheese."
