Trying to understand the matchup stick

Can anyone explain whats up with the symbols are above the WRs heads? Also, when I choose a WR, I get these #s. some positive and some negative.

it's your advantage or disadvantage over the defender.

anyhow, on that note, wth is "release"?

I believe release has to do with how well the receiver handles getting jammed at the line. High release means he's hard to jam.

I do wanna know what the other symbols are though. The triangles and bars.

So if it's + then that's how much better my guy is? I have yet to figure out of I want -s or +s.

Re: Trying to understand the matchup stick

          1) Exactly how much of a speed advantage or disadvantage he has over the defender
2.) How much his route running beats or loses to the defender's man coverage
3.) How much his release beats or loses to the defender's press
4.) And how much taller or smaller (in inches) he is than the defender.

Green means the run block of OL>Block Shed of DL I believe
          Yellow means they are similar
          Red favors DL

If a receiver's release is +7, it means his release ability to get away from the corner jamming him at the line is 7 attributes higher than the corner's "press" rating.

            Hope that helps.

Once you get used to where to look, it only takes a second or two. I like to check when I have slants called and the DBs are in press to see which one is more likely to get a clean release.

You don't check it for every wideout on every play, it's just a quick look in for your #1 read.
Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.

If I look at the match up when I'm on defense are the numbers still the WR vs the DB or are they flipped?

For example if the WR speed is 90 and DB speed is 80 on offense I'd see +10. If I were on defense would I see +10 or -10?

Now that teambuilder 14 is up, this would be really easy to check on the demo.

The match up sticks are all based off the WR advantage/disadvantage

I have not seen this on the demo, is it a setting I may have turned off or is it only in the release game?
