We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
That was by far the best teaser trailer from E3 IMO. 60 FPS is a big deal and boy Microsoft must be as happy as ever to have this franchise as an exclusive.
I think it would be really weird if 343 decided not to make the debut on next-gen consoles with H5.
Honestly, I'm really excited. I think the outcry to bring H5 back to Halo's roots, from a MP standpoint, will be enough for 343 to make that change. Heres what I'm hoping for:
- The return of a visible Competitive Ranking System. Easily the best thing about Halo used to be its competitive spirit. There's no reason to believe it won't be back, however, after 343 tried to force it back in there for H4.
- A variety of maps. There's too many medium-very large maps and not enough smaller ones. Looking back, most of Halo's most famous maps (Lockout, Guardian, Warlock, Midship, etc.) were smaller maps.
- Introduce clans. The best thing about Halo used to be that everyone needed to work as a team to level up. It's turned into more of a FFA K/D ratio thing where people care less about winning. Clans might go a long way in helping.
- Let us fully customize the way our characters look and give them more personality.

I really hope 343 listens to the feedback and understands how important a visible CRS is to the series. Also, I really hope we get away from Promethean vision, jet packs, etc.

I wouldn't mind a couple select playlists (and it seems like they should be able to run a TON of playlists with the cloud service) with the power-ups, but thats about it. I'm hoping we have a regular Team Slayer and FFA mode.

That is a solid point. However, I think we saw the downfall of excessive playlists in Halo 4. 343 spread people out way to thin and the only substantial playlist ever was Big Team Battle.

I think the issue with Halo 4 was that people just stopped playing it all together. I know personally my entire high school social life revolved around playing Halo 2 with friends and online. People played Halo 2 much longer then Halo 4. Part of that is the product. Halo 4 was just a step in the wrong direction. I felt as though they tried to turn it into a Call of Duty. Halo is a game that should be based upon player skill not the gimmicks they've put in to go along with all of the one shot kill weapons. Sword, rockets, and sniper are the only power weapons that should be in the game. Followed by s Battle Rifle, pistol, assault rifle, and shotgun.
To go along with that they also need to create better maps. Halo 4 had garbage maps. I want a few small symmetrical ones. A few that go well with one flag, assault, and oddball. Then some bigger ones for Big Team Battle. Give me Headlong and Waterworks over any BTB map that we've had since Halo 2.
I'm hoping with dedicated servers 343 doesn't have to worry about modding and people tampering with the connection. This is the main reason I think we'll see the return of actual ranks like we had in Halo 2. As for playlists, we don't need anything special. Slayer, skirmish, hardcore/mlg, BTB, and then a few social playlists for guests. Clan matches would be a huge positive too.
Yeah Halo 4 I just lost all interest in. I hated the bolt shot in the game and camo being starting power. Promethium vision as well needs to go.
I was ok with Sprint, Jet Pack, etc but I believe that camo and overshield should be map power ups again. I also was a fan of the starting weapons and weapons on map having a random spawn system. Being back the ranks and fun from Halo 2 but the load outs from 4 and ill be happy. I understand that there will have to be more weapons and differences for the simple reason of new enemies but keep it in the power brackets of the rest.
I'm sure ill think of more but that's all on the top of my head.
I was thinking about the next gen and something really stuck out to me. A lot of these games are trying to blur the line between single and multiplayer. Destiny, The Division, Watchdogs, titanfall, etc or going to giant open worlds (GTA V, Witcher 3, MGS).
What if Halo 5 tries that. Like a massive open world (not small like ODST, think Witcher 3) on maybe a whole planet level or if the story takes you deferent places make each area a massive area.
Make some multiplayer game mode massive to where it's like a giant "free Roam" with covenant, Flood, etc scenarios. Co-op like Spartan Ops on steroids. Something to maybe get halo on the map again. Also do pvp in that regard as well somehow.
I'm not saying get rid of the 4v4 multiplayer slayer. That's the staple of Halo and should not go anywhere but adding something new and fresh to a lore friendly universe that could work.
Any takes on this idea? I know it's extreme change but I think it would harness a lot of the xbones potential and bring something extreme to the series.
