        Re: Rookie Ratings

I rate rookies 68 and below. They can still be effective and produce for their team with the right individual stats.

But with my personal roster 90% of the league has 50 potential and most role/bench guys are rated under 65. It makes for a better association when 3 years in every team doesnt have 5 90+ players.

Taking a shot at it, with letter grade potentials:

          73 B+ 1. Cavs: Anthony Bennett SF/PF - UNLV
          74 B 2. Magic: Victor Oladipo SG - Indiana
          70 A 3. Wizards: Otto Porter SF - Georgetown
          72 C+ 4. Bobcats: Cody Zeller C - Indiana
          68 B- 5. Suns: Alex Len C - Maryland
          66 B+ 6. Sixers: Nerlens Noel PF/C - Kentucky
          72 A 7. Kings: Ben McLemore SG - Kansas
          65 B 8. Pistons: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG - Georgia
          73 B- 9. Jazz: Trey Burke PG - Michigan
          72 C+ 10. Blazers: CJ McCollum PG/SG - Lehigh
          74 B+ 11. Sixers: Michael Carter-Williams PG - Syracuse
          60 A- 12. Thunder: Steven Adams C - Pittsburgh
          72 D+ 13. Celtics: Kelly Olynyk C - Gonzaga
          70 A 14. Wolves: Shabazz Mohammed SG/SF - UCLA
          64 B+ 15. Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo SF - Greece
          62 B 16. Hawks: Lucas Noguiera PF/C - Germany
          61 B 17. Hawks: Dennis Schroeder PG - Germany
65 B- 18. Mavericks: Shane Larkin- PG- Miami
          63 C 19. Cavs: Sergey Karasev SG/SF - Russia
          67 C+ 20. Bulls: Tony Snell SG/SF- New Mexico

I think these are pretty solid picks based on my own interpretation of good Association ratings where:
          Under 60=D-League/Reserve Roster
          60-69=NBA Bench Warmer
          70-79=Role Player/6th Man
          80-89=NBA Starter/Top 6th Man
          90-94=All-Star
          95-98=Perenial All-Star/Hall of Famer
99= One of the All-Time Greats

Obviously, 2K will rate these guys slightly higher than me, but my picks are good guidelines in terms of Association mode realism.

              So he's better than:

Looks pretty accurate. I would make a few small adjustments though:

Otto Porter should have a B+ potential.
Adams should be slightly higher, around 62.
Olynyk should be closer to a 66.
Noguiera should be about a 59.

Ben Mclemore will be the best rookie in the game. As we all know athleticism and three point shooting are both killers in 2k and he has both. Also even as a fan of Noel and a die hard sixers fan there is NO WAY Noel will be a top five defender.

I didn't watch much of Porter, but looking at his stats, I wanted to give him a shot at being an above average starter, maybe a borderline star in the right situation or with user focus. It's a judgement call for sure.

Adams is a project in my mind. I wish they would add the D-League back, because either way that's where he'll be for awhile IMO.

Yeah given that Stockton is Gonzaga's one and only draft standout, I could agree with this. But, I figured his shooting ability would bring his overall up, and I lowered his potential to compensate. What would you project his ceiling at?

Yeah and to be honest we pretty much are agreeing and are splitting hairs at this point. On to my reasonings though:

Only reason I would put Porters potential down a bit is because I don't think he will ever be an All-star or at that level. I just don't see him having a ton of potential in the long term. I think he'll be a solid player in his career and is one player that truly can contribute right away, but it wouldn't surprise me if another SF in the draft, like Snell or someone else, has a better career in the end.

Adams is definitely a project, especially on the offensive end, where he shows promise, but it will take a while(where did that midrange game from the combine and workouts come from...?He never seemed to miss). However, he is surprisingly good on defense and rebounding. He's agile for a big man which will help on pick and rolls, but also plays pretty physical to go along with being a pretty good shot blocker. I think he could come in immediately and hold his on on the defensive end which is why I bumped him up into the low 60s. I agree on your potential rating though, give this guy some good coaching and a few years and he could be very good on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball.

Olynyk is a weird case, and I agree that his shooting is what brings his rating up. He's not really a true stretch 4 at this point because he doesn't really have NBA 3 point range(although, he has the potential to develop that in the NBA, which I think he will probably need to do). He only shot .9 3 point shots per game last year making 30%. That shot in the NBA is a mid-range shot. He definitely has better range though than most bigs, so he will stretch the floor out to some extent. He will be serviceable on offense pretty much right away, which I think most people will agree with. The real problem is his defense. He will get eaten alive on defense right now. This is the exact opposite of Steven Adams in that sense on defense, who I think can come in and play pretty good defense right away. I think his ceiling is pretty low and I agree with your potential grade on him, which is not very high. However, I think a 72 is a little high for someone who will be decent on offense but will get destroyed on defense, which is why I put him down to a 66.

I was being serious... He is very disruptive defensively. Steals, blocks and changing shots. His offensive game is bad. But he is ready defensively to be a top 5 defensive big... For god sake Marc Gasol won Defensive player of the year this past year. Nerlens is way better defensively than him. Say it's not true.

Like I said, Can be top be top five defensively. As long as he is healthy. Comes back 100%. You are forgetting one huge stat that Noel does better than any big I have seen. And that's he gets steals. The only two things I worry about him on the dfensive end is his weight.... obviously he is lean. And his knee after he injured it... If he's healthy and plays this year he will avr 2 blocks and 2 steals per game. Can u name a big that does that?

Noel will CONSTANTLY get pushed around in the post in the NBA until he gets stronger. Even if he gets healthy it will take at least a few years for him to develop the Strength he needs. He blocked alot of shots in college guarding guys straight up, not gonna happen in the NBA as he will get pushed under the basket by Howard, Duncan, Gasol, etc. Now he will still get weakside blocks and steals. There is ALOT more to defense than Stats. Does Noel have Potential YES, will it translate to the NBA? Who knows, only time will tell.

My money's on it will translate, Anthony Davis proved it. U don't have to have as much weight when ur more athletic the the other guy. Will it be a transition for him, yes. Will he be ready defensively.... 100% yes as long as his knee allows. He is super duper athletic even more so than davis. He will go 120% the whole game. He will be a nightmare on the defensive side. I can guarantee that

I am not saying he doesnt have a chance, but his body will take a Beating UNTIL he gets bigger. There is BIG transition to the NBA and ALOT of College Players Struggle with the Physicality of the NBA. Anthony Davis averaged 1.8bpg in NBA, where he Averaged 4.7bpg at Kentucky(MORE than Noel). I HOPE Noel does great, just not convinced yet.
