THE MOTHERLOAD IV: A CLASSIC ROSTER DEVOTED TO THE SEVENTIES!

In honor of the first original six Stanley cup finals since 1979, I give you....

THE MOTHERLOAD IV: A CLASSIC ROSTER DEVOTED TO THE SEVENTIES!

They're here in all their glory: The dominant Habs with a star-laden roster, the Boadstreet bullies, the Rangers and Islanders ready to begin their original rivalry all over again, the Atlanta/Calgary Flames with Bouchard tending net, The Oilers with Gretzsky, Messier and Kurri. The Kings with Dionne, Simmer and Goring. The Blackhawks with the Espositos, The Red Wings with Howe, Mickey Redmond and Frank Mahovlich, The Nordiques with the Stastnys, Michel Goulet, Dale Hunter and Mario Marois, The Leafs' Sittler, McDonald and Borje Salming. The list goes on and on. Even Bobby Schmautz! : )

If you're a history buff like me, you'll love it! I've been meaning to this for years. 18 teams were created in NHL 10 (PS3) using a base roster from "bjhack" (thanks) which had 8 teams done. I not only expanded the list to 18 teams, but I also improved faces, and re-rated almost everyone. It spans the years 1970-1983 and includes the best players from that era for the following teams:

New York Islanders
New York Rangers
Philadelphia Flyers
Calgary Flames
Vancouver Canucks
Chicago Blackhawks
St. Louis Blues
Edmonton Oilers
MINNESOTA NORTH STARS (Dallas)
QUEBEC NORDIQUES-created (or trade players to Phoenix)
WINNIPEG JETS-created (or trade players to Colorado)
Toronto Maple Leafs
Boston Bruins
Buffalo Sabres
Montreal Canadiens
Pittsburgh Penguins
Detroit Red Wings
Los Angeles Kings

Now you can re-create "The French Connection"—Buffalo Sabres (1972–1979)—Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin, and Rene Robert; made up of three French-Canadian players
"The GAG Line" (Goal-a-Game Line) —New York Rangers (1964–75)—Jean Ratelle, Vic Hadfield, and Rod Gilbert; later dubbed the "TAG (Two-a-Game) Line"
"The GEM Line"—Atlanta Flames (late 1970s) —Guy Chouinard, Eric Vail, and Bob MacMillan
"The LCB Line"—Philadelphia Flyers (1970s)—Reggie Leach, Bobby Clarke, and Bill Barber; after the initials of the players' surnames
"The Long Island Lightning Company"—New York Islanders (1975-77)—Billy Harris, Clark Gillies and Bryan Trottier; after Long Island Lighting Company, the local utility company (because they caused the goal light to go on so often)and "The Trio Grande"—New York Islanders (1977–1980s)—Clark Gillies, Bryan Trottier, and Mike Bossy - in five seasons as full-time linemates from 1977-82, combined for 668 goals and 1498 points
"The Espo Line" Boston Bruins (1967–75)—Wayne Cashman, Phil Esposito, and Ken Hodge; also known as "The Nitro Line"; and "The Dogs of War Line"
"The Century Line"—Pittsburgh Penguins (1972–76)—Syl Apps Jr., Lowell MacDonald, and Jean Pronovost; also known as "The Bicentennial Line"; scored 100+ goals and 200+ points for 4 straight seasons, "The 7-8-9 Line" (La ligne 7-8-9)—Quebec Nordiques—Robbie Ftorek, Marc Tardif, Real Cloutier, first few seasons after the Nordiques joined the NHL,"The Bulldog Line"—New York Rangers—Steve Vickers, Walt Tkaczuk, Bill Fairbairn and many more.

One caveat- I squeezed blood from a stone here, so don't get your hopes up too much because (as you know) editing options were VERY limited. I had to duplicate many players to several teams, and use current players with the same last name for some guys. Adam Taylor for Dave Taylor, etc. But the players are re-numbered and re-rated correctly. AHL players were used on all the remaining teams (Phoenix, Nashville, San Jose, etc).

Colleges and exact ages were not done, because otherwise this would not happen till NHL 2025 is released. The Quebec Nordiques are called "Nuggets".

The roster is not perfect by any means. I was not going to release this at all and just use it for myself, but I am enjoying it too much to keep it to myself.

The good news is only one Goalie (Bouchard on Calgary/Quebec) is duplicated, so you have 2 accurate goalies from each team from the swingin' 70's!
