Is Superstar Mode Needed For Live 14?

I think this mode is needed, if done right along with gameplay it can help push Live back into the spotlight. Every since 2k11 My player has been lacking they keep going backwards making it easier and easier for you to succeed

if what live is boasting is true then it would help this mode take off with actually learning the play style of your team for instance playing with the clippers with VDN as head coach you get more points for making dunks and throwing lobs to teammates but playing with clippers with Doc as head coach you get more points for playing good defense getting steals, breaking up plays, making good blocks.

i could go on but i want to hear what you all have to say

To be honest I can see EA taking the lead on basketball games this next generation, if they implement Superstar Mode correctly and use team-specific features to make a more sim experience, expect Live 14 sales to blow through the roof. It will easily surpass MyCAREER if EA knows what they are doing.

Absolutely, my player modes have been one of the main selling points for games, not only basketball, but franchises like MLB the Show, Madden, and FIFA as well.

so what do you guys want to see in theirs that's not in 2k's?

        for me
Option to sim ANY game you want
        Alternate jerseys like in madden
An emphasis on playing another positions other than Pg (for some reason 2k can't understand that)

          REALISTIC PROGRESSION.

You shouldnt be starting over superstars. You shouldn't be able to reach 99 overall in your rookie season. The coach shouldn't slide a CP3/D.Rose/Rondo to shooting guard just to start you at PG.

I just want something realistic. Of course, if you get drafted to a team that has a weakness in your position, you should be able to start right away. But the positions of current NBA superstars should not be altered just to accomodate for you.

              Yes AND No.

Yes because, if they were to do it and do it right, with realistic progression as someone else said, implement features to where it feels like you ARE that superstar. Something like Madden '06's superstar mode, with the PDA, going to talk to your agent, going to train within the week, making big statements such as making the playoffs or talking about the refs or your coaches.

No because, if they were to do it wrong, it would get very boring just like the competition MyCareer mode. Just playing 82 games, getting blamed in those games for things you had nothing to do with, horrible playcalling when your not the ballhandler and nothing to do when your not on the court.

They don't need it to succeed, but it would be a nice feature.

                No.

They need to build a solid foundation. They need solid 5 on 5 play. They need a solid franchise mode. I could live without a Superstar mode for a couple years. I just want a basketball game that isn't scripted.

i completely agree with that part, why they cut that from madden i'll never know. 2k10 had it just about right the first time so EA should be able to muster something up

I think it depends on "Live the Life" the new Be a Pro in NHL. If they pull it off well in there, it should be no problem it implement it in Live. Its not necessary for success I don't think.

i think just solid enough should be good but then again they have two other games to learn from

I want to see this as well. For me personally, it'd persuade me to buy live over 2k a little more.

To be honest, this is why they both need it and don't need it. Everyone who saw/played the demo at E3 said they liked the way it felt to dribble and move around the court. Having a superstar/my player mode would be the perfect way to really get used to the controls, and understand how to use them in a 5-on-5 game, while not being overly-complicated, since you only have to worry about controlling your 1 player.

I spend the majority of my time on 2k13 in the My Career mode, so I would love for Live to have it. 2k has some nice features, but the mode itself feels too scripted and unrealistic. It's near impossible to be drafted #1 overall, no matter how well you play in the Rookie Showcase (triple-double with 67% FG%, 1 TO, A Teammate Grade, and I still went 5th overall). The pre-draft interviews are boring, and only having 4 choices really limits you. You unlock the same posters, commercials, magazine covers, etc. in the same order, and they don't really do anything. Also, why is my player wearing a suit with a headband on the cover of Style (or whatever it's called)? Can't I at least choose my poses for the magazines and posters? The press conferences are way too scripted, and don't seem to have any effect. Plus there often isn't a choice that says what I really want to say, much like the pre-draft interviews. As someone mentioned above, not being able to sim single games is a huge oversight.

Basically, if Live can do it well, and make it a mode that you can really get involved in, I would be ecstatic.

I think NBA Live could do alot better with a Superstar mode than 2k.. EA Sports has ESPN so they can add a more realistic commentary and Presentation to it.. I'd like to see more realistic endorsements that actually do something for you. make it hard to become an elite player, if you're a 73 rating your rookie year then you shouldn't be any higher than around 77/78 by the end of it.. NCAA Football 14 has a good presentation, it's very real.. If NBA Live could translate this, in all the modes then it will surpass 2k

For live 14? No, priority should be gameplay and franchise/association. For live 15 or 16 then yes it could be a possibility.
