    New Relegation Idea

Below are the proposed conferences. Here is the basis:

    • 2 Regions (East and West)
    • Each region broken down into a sub-region (North and South)
    • There are 6 Tiers that look like this:
      Tier 1: SEC & PAC 12 (16 teams each)
      Tier 2: ACC & BIG 10 (12 teams each)
      Tier 3: American & BIG 12 (12 teams each)
Tier 4: Conf USA & Mt West (12 teams each)
Tier 5: Sun Belt & MAC (6 teams each)
Tier 6: Indep. East & Indep. West (5 teams each)
    • Bowl Tie-Ins (2 conferences per tier):
      Tier 1: None
      Tier 2: None
Tier 3: Cotton Bowl (Prevents a team down here from a BCS Bowl in theory
      Tier 4: Las Vegas Bowl
      Tier 5: Sun Bowl
      Tier 6: None
    • Promotion/Relgation Looks like this:
Tier 2 to 1 (2 teams move): Each conference champ replaces the last place team in the above region and sub-region
Tier 3 to 2 (2 teams move): Each conference champ replaces the last place team in the above region and sub-region
Tier 4 to 3 (1 team moves): Las Vegas Bowl champ replaces the last place team in corresponding region and sub-region
Tier 5 to 4 (1 team moves): Sun Bowl champ replaces the last place team in corresponding region and sub-region
Tier 6 to 5 (2 teams move): BTop overall record in each independent region replaces the last place team above them
Top 25 Scenario: Any team from Tier 4 to Tier 6 who did not meet automatic promotion criteria but finishes in the top 25 will also move up.

I don't know if it was changed for '14 or not, but only BCS Bowls were able to be set as tie-ins
