Still no commitments in Week 12

I'm in Week 12 on my South Alabama dynasty (I'm the OC) and still have no commitments. Teams were passing me with ease, so I added players on my board that nobody else was recruiting (4 stars, 3 stars). I have 1,000+ leads on teams. If I go into the offseason with 1,000+ leads on 18 or 19 guys, what are my chances at landing them? I'm scared to death potentially going into the offeseason with no commits, and they're only 50-80% locked.

Maybe you should go after some guys that want to go to your school. I know they will be 1 and 2 star guys, but at least fill your needs and then go after better players.

I mean I have huge leads (1000-2000) with some of these 4 stars that nobody is targeting. I just am scared that they won't commit before signing day and I don't know what will happen since this is my first season through. Most of the guys that had interest (2 and 3 stars) in my school to begin with and that I had on my board I ended up being passed by some major BCS programs that picked up interest LATE in the season.

I simulated a season just so I could practice the new recruiting. It seems like not that many guys commit during the season. I only had one commit during the season. The guys you have really big leads on you should get with no problem but anybody that you have small leads on you may or may not get.
Anything can really happy since any team can dump a ton of points all onto one guy after the season if they want to. So the bigger the lead the safer you are.

How many guys are you allocating points to? I'm 1 star Texas State and at week 11 I'd say I have probably 10 commits, and I think 6 or 7 are 3 star guys. I just picked 10 guys and give them the max amount of points every week, when one commits I allocate the max to somebody new

12-14 at one time. Once I get a big lead, I move on to a guy that at team is catching up on me.

All of the guys that were originally interested ended up getting picked up by teams like Southern Miss, FIU, and even Texas and Clemson. I couldn't compete with those teams even with 500 points per week. So I dropped them after going down by 500+ and started going after 4 and 3 stars that were less than 25% locked up. I just got 6 commits in the last week of the regular season (two 4 stars and four 3 stars), but I've still got a ton of uncommitted guys on my board I lead for. I'm scared some team will put the full 15,000 or however many points you can spend in the offseason on those guys.

I'm almost debating whether to cut my losses, hope I get the guys I lead for already in the offseason, and put the full 15,000 or however many points on the #2 overall QB in the nation with 75 speed, 90 throw power, and 82 throw accuracy that I currently lead for just to ensure I get him.

My first season with EMU, I was able to finish up with about 6 players signed in season. They were players that had interest in my school, and I offered max points every week to them and offered scholarships early to them.

Have you done any visits yet? This year the visits look to pay off huge! Make sure and pair defensive or offensive players together, and pay attention to what will get you bonus points.IE. I had a TE I was recruiting and I was able to get about 250 bonus points, for a TE on my team with 100 rec yards. Those type of things can really seal the deal, even if you are behind.

This is part of your problem. 1-2k leads were huge last year but are nothing this year. Before dropping points you need to consider not only your lead but also the lock %, the number of other teams with visits (I've dropped 1400 in a week where I had 500 in due to visit), your bonus (if you are +80 you can't drop too low, if +300 its ok to drop a bit more).

The problem is that you're recruiting too many 3-4 star guys.

The process I take with recruiting with any team is this:

Check top 100, see if any prospects are interested, regardless of need. (In my Kentucky practice dynasty, ended up having the #4, #9, and maybe the #12 TEs interested in me (only got the #9 guy). Also had the #10 DE and two 4-star ATH interested, got them.)

Check needs, target those guys next. These will probably be your first additions, so you will always be conscious that you NEED to get those guys signed. They should be your priority until you're sure you got em locked up.

After that, you always wanna target positions like QB, RB, CB, etc. and ALWAYS OLine. You can also recruit the "best available".

Being in Alabama, you will certainly have talented guys interested in you. Keep in mind though, it's humbling to have the bulk of your class be 2-stars with the occasional 3-star. But that is life at a smaller school. You have to actually recruit the guys who WANT to be there, and really go after one or two guys who you may be on the outside looking in.

I think my first year at Kentucky, I signed the #26 class in the nation. I just signed the guys who were interested from the beginning, I didn't force my way it. Most importantly though, I locked up the 2/3-stars I knew would contribute down the line. But if you have no commits by week 12 (virtualy the end of the year) it's probably because you didn't show enough attention to the guys who were interested.

My problem with recruiting is that i'm still unsure when to say
"Alright, I'm not going to sign him." In the previous releases it was much easier to tell if you had a chance with a player. I understand you can get locked out eventually but it'd be nice to realize the facts before they become reality. Has anyone found a point where you're able to say "I'm not getting this guy?"
