I simply hope that 2k (or whoever else) concludes that the timing is right to give a new title a shot. After all the EA product is not exactly stellar and we are heading into a new console generation. Perhaps they see it as an opportunity. It's my personal hope anyway.Comment

The one thing I will say about 2K is that their success with the NBA game may lead them to try and expand back to football.
It probably won't be anytime soon, but as the market for gaming grows, that's the kind of thing I wouldn't be totally surprised to see in the future.Writer for Operation Sports

I'll tell you what, the one thing I'd love to see above all others would be to see some of the smart people who make MLB The Show take a stab at a football game (pro or college) on PS4.Comment

Perhaps nothing. None of us know what the CLC license costs in terms of video game economics. Furthermore, none of us know the specifics of the contracts between the CLC, NCAA and EA or to what extent they had any exclusivity provisions.

2k's last CF title sold very little
The CLC license was so expensive that it drove 2k away from making their CB game.Comment

My understanding is some kind of a joint statement from EA Sports and the Collegiate Licensing Company is coming soon.Orbis Non SuficitComment

For the masses here who apparently believe this means the end of college football on consoles:
Take a deep breath and understand this is like a solar flare rather than the sun going supernova. There's no reason to believe this is the end.
Does it kill the game because the Butkus Award is referred to as "Best LB Award" at the end of the season? Just look through every aspect of the game the next time you fire it up, and imagine deleting the name "NCAA" everywhere it occurs and replacing it with "college" if you have to. That's the net effect here.Comment

Doubtful. I don't think the cost of the NCAA license was the reason no one is making college basketball games.Comment

I will believe the series is still alive when EA makes it official. I'm sorry but this means a lot to me; it's the main reason I am still a gamer at 47 years of age and I feel like I have just been punched in the face repeatedly. I have lots of real world responsibilities and gaming is my escape and the NCAA series is the only game I play year round. I literally just stopped playing '13 the week before '14's early release.
IMO there are still a lot of variables before "College Football 15" gets made. The CLC license needs to be re-upped. The teams not covered by the CLC need to be dealt with. Most importantly, the O'Bannon case cannot end badly for EA or all bets are off.
I love all the optimism here, I really do. I just can't share it right now because I am so damned worried. I have been dreaming of the next-gen college football game for a while now. I certainly hope we get one.NCAA: Michigan Wolverines

And through all of this, we the fans are the ones who have to suffer, as well as the possible lost jobs of these employees. It's always gonna be that one person who ruins it for everyone. I hope the O'Bannon guy is happy with this.PS5 PSN: MellowTheMyth | Xbox Series Gamertag: MelloTheMythComment
