Hopefully they could add a real playoff system on next generation

      .
The NCAA doesn't either, so I guess I'm missing your point. EA will have to do what they have always done to get the licensees for their games.

For a major corporation whether its EA or CLC or the one I work for, getting sued is a part of doing business. We make decisions based on whether we would lose a suit....not because of the threat of being sued.

Also, I bet anyone EA's and NCAA's insurance is covering the cost of this lawsuit. It may hurt EA's stock price but they arent losing money yet.

The CLC is selling the banana. EA Sports froze it and killed someone.

Regarding the removal of the NCAA:

The NCAA does not own colleges. It does not own logos or names other than the NCAA logo and the name "NCAA".

If you own a food market and the CLC shows up to buy a banana that will later be sold to EA Sports (who may or may not freeze it to kill someone), but the banana distributor decides it no longer wants you to sell their product, so they pull the contract. That doesn't mean your food market is gone. You still have all other foods with individual agreements with each distributor to sell it. It just means you're all going to need some potassium pills because of your banana deficiency.

EA Sports College Football is the food market owner. The NCAA is the banana dealer.

Haha. Like bringing bananas into it!!

It was simply a rhetorical question. I meant no offense by it.

Nothing has changed on that front. The NCAA isnt going to sign another deal with a video game company until the Obannon case is resolved.

Any video game company can negotiate a deal with the CLC in 2014. The problem is most video game companies cant afford or dont want to pay the price of CLC license.

There will still be a game, that will have all the teams, stadiums, etc. that's all I care about. Actually prefer not having the NCAA attached to it

NCAA Football 14 is one of the hottest video games on the market right now, but big changes to next year's edition of the game may be on the horizon...

EA doesn't have an exclusive CLC license anymore no, but that has been well known for awhile. The problem is, there's only room for one college football game on the market for it to be profitable and EA makes it. 2K is sitting on decade-old software that is outdated in most every way -- developing a next-gen ready title would require enormous effort ($$$) that wouldn't be recuperated from NCAA Football alone. It's really as simple as that.

Why? A new game is coming out next year. People really dont give a **** if the NCAA logo is on the packaging. ****, its not even like college basketball. In CB, the NCAA owns the tournament, the trademarks and the trophy. Thats not the case in football.

"EA SPORTS will continue to develop and publish college football games" - Executive VP of @EASPORTS, Andrew Wilson

"By now, most fans will have heard that EA's licensing agreement with the NCAA is set to expire and that we have agreed to part ways. I'm sure gamers are wondering what this means.

This is simple: EA SPORTS will continue to develop and publish college football games, but we will no longer include the NCAA names and marks. Our relationship with the Collegiate Licensing Company is strong and we are already working on a new game for next generation consoles which will launch next year and feature the college teams, conferences and all the innovation fans expect from EA SPORTS.

We took big creative strides with this year's college game and youโ€™ll see much more in the future. We love college football and look forward to making more games for our fans."
