I wonder if all the things the NCAA frowned upon like the celebrations and suspensions will start working their way back into the game.

Zero. The playoffs are licensed under the BCS. The bowls have their own separate deals too.

EA has already seen a 1.57% dip today due to the news and it's far away from the $60 days on the market.

And you hit on a very good point in that it's the third largest franchise in the United States. It pales in comparison to FIFA and is still lagging behind Madden. Now with the uncertainty of what's going to happen in court and with your best known partner pulling out? That doesn't sound too good.

Again, they may pull this off, but there is still a long road ahead.
EA's major stockholders arent stupid. They are already in the lawsuit. Ending the NCAA series or changing the series in any significant way isnt going to change the course of the lawsuit. If anything changes are likely to make EA's position in the lawsuit look worse.

The only thing that is going to change the series is a bad result from the lawsuit.

What I'm hearing is, the NCAA itself really brought no value to the game other than branding.

I like the name "College Football" better anyways.

It doesn't matter if the NCAA name is on the game. FBS schools play for the BCS National Championship. Its not the NCAA Championship and it never has been. Also to the guy who brought up Bill Walsh College Football. NCAA was on the Game I still play the Rom of it from time to time.

You do realize that there is an actual D2 (Division II of the NCAA) FCS is still D1. At least give the FCS that credit.

EA will have to work with the individual conferences like they always have to get rights to logos, stadiums and uniforms. Same with the BCS. This just affects the ability to use the NCAA mark.
Well if they can secure the deals and just have to drop the NCAA logo/name.. when you think about it, that would still be ok. Literally the only place NCAA is seen or said is on the packaging, title screens, and its in a little bit of the color commentary I think.

If EA keeps everything else, and its no more cost than what it has been, the next game will just be something like EA SPORTS COLLEGE FOOTBALL... OR they maybe leverage thier relationship with EPSN finally and just call it EA SPORTS COLLEGE GAMEDAY.. or just EA SPORTS PRESENTS: ESPN COLLEGE GAMEDAY.

No more NCAA restrictions. Once EA secures it's license from teh CLC for all the teams and conferences. It can add full playoffs, have kids get into trouble off the field, suspensions.

College Football 15 could be down right amazing. The NCAA set up so many restrictions, i think this will make a better product
With the ps4 I have no doubt next years game will be a major upgrade. Not sure about full playoffs, probably will reflect reality which is 4 schools.

Here's the first college game I ever played. It was on the sega genesis back in 93. Featured 24 teams and 24 historical teams. Some teams carried the names of the school cities rather than school names.

Not to mention that the FCS schools were never all in the game. It was a few conferences but there were still 50 schools or so that were missing.

Do why didn't someone make a college game if we don't need NCAA?

Wow a bizarre day! If anything, not having the NCAA name could be great as it should allow for better customization and now that the next gen is here, the game should be EPIC.

To everyone wanting 2k to throw their hat in the ring... Go play College Football 2k3, it's terrible.

Now also remember they havent made a football game in what 5 years now since APF? They will have to make it next gen and that will cost more to make then they could make from the game. They would have to secure the NFL as well and the NFL and EA love each other.

For use NCAA fans "College Football 15" will be better in every way. The NCAA is like a pedophile at a kid's birthday party, they ruin everything. EA can make dynasty deeper and heck maybe even include FCS schools in there or no restrictions to TB teams imported

haha, I remember saying that when the PS3 and X360 came out. Yeah...upgrades, haha.

It appears they just take the NCAA off and every little detail associated with that. Everything else can remain the same?

I wonder if they will be able to put back the disciplinary actions that were in the PS2 version years back.
