Re: NCAA Football 14 Uniform Update #1 Details, Free DLC Arrives Tomorrow
Have you seen the EA forums? Have you seen Ben Haumiller's twitter account asking for things like Uga to bark to Notre Dame's stadium seat color being incorrect?
Part of the limited development cycle EA sports franchises have, is pleasing fans once the game releases. With NCAA, they have 126 teams worth of fans, compared to 32 in pro sports.... not to mention the smallest production team in EA Sports dedicated to an annual franchise.
So absolutely, people requesting minutiae each year is part of the problem.Comment

I could agree with "part of the problem", but your post before said that this "was the reason for" which I disagree. The game has to look up to par and suggesting otherwise is absolutely burying your head in the sand. The reason for a lack of gameplay improvements that makes the game to the standard of most is that gameplay takes much more time and resources to fix. They dont have to fix it until they start seeing a drastic decline in sales...........thats the reason.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 14 Uniform Update #1 Details, Free DLC Arrives Tomorrow
My 2 schools (grad and undergrad) have been wrong for 3 and 8 years in a row respectively. 1 stadium has never been fixed and still looks like the incorrect PS2 version, and my graduate school has 2 separate issues... jersey and missing alternate jersey.
At the end of the day, neither is a dealbreaker for me. What does lead me to buying this game every 2-3 years, is the consistent glitches that occur.
So when Oregon changes their uniform more often than kids change their underwear, and a schools rolls out a new helmet well after the game has been completed, the reaction of people over these details is overwhelming compared to gameplay mechanics.Comment

When you get more threads on a forum, twitter account, youtube account asking for accessories over gameplay, then that's becomes the problem.
If the game had jerseys from 2005, you can understand... but how many threads have been made over a helmet missing from the game? Looking the part is 1 thing, but getting 126 teams accurate without flaw is a miracle.Comment

And we go right back to the distinction between gameplay department and the art department.
Like it or not, visuals are EXTREMELY important to a game; they are the first impression you get of a game.Alumnus:

And once again, nowhere did I say the visuals aren't important. From the very first post I made I said that being accurate with them, and adding them are fine...
But the key to any game is the actual mechanics on the field. It's great Oregon has 25 uniforms... yet someone who plays with Penn State can't play against Oregon because the no huddle defense doesn't work.
What do you think will keep people playing a game or leaving it... having a product that was tested properly before release so that it minimizes bugs, or having 400 different jerseys, of which the overwhelming majority of users will never use or see in game?Comment

Re: NCAA Football 14 Uniform Update #1 Details, Free DLC Arrives Tomorrow
I understand that hey EA isn't going to get everything about every school's stadium, jersey, etc. right. But, what frustrates me is that, when EA obviously doesn't do any research on if they are accurate. For example, my favoirite team is obviously WKU, and have been in the game since either 08 or 09. Now, I am glad our stadium is in the game, and the outside of the stadium, with the clock tower and buildings is accurate, BUT that's about all that has been accurate.
First, I know it sounds silly, but they have the opposing sideline and home team sidelines on the wrong side. I know it seems like a little thing, but when you have attended 20+ games in the past few years at that stadium, it is real noticeable, and seems like a quick thing they can change.
Now, I understand that they don't have our new jerseys yet, which is understandable, we just revealed them last week. But, when, our jerseys have been wrong in the game for 3 YEARS IN A ROW is really frustrating. EA hasn't put names on the backs of the jerseys and the lettering is way too small and not spaced out.
Now, finally, the fight song. It's been about 4 or 5 years, and they still haven't put our fight song in the game, well technically. You see WKU has the SAME fight song as Ohio, yet after all this time, they still haven't even put it for WKU, it is in for Ohio.
Now, I know all this sounds trivial, but I know that WKU isn't the only school, that is inaccurate like this. And I believe that all schools should be as accurate as possible, especially if it is your favorite team. Seeing something not right for teams, makes EA look lazy. Not saying that they are, but when simple stuff like this is ignored for YEARS. It makes me think that all EA cares about is the big boys.360 Gamertag: PaulDWKU85Comment

From what I can tell EA cares more about the top tier programs than the smaller programs, like WKU. It would be nice to see all the teams uniforms correctly represented and the smaller things like team placement on the correct side of the field. With EA I don't see that happening, unfortunately.I understand that hey EA isn't going to get everything about every school's stadium, jersey, etc. right. A'men brother!!! I'm a WKU alum and root for them 11 games (12 if they make a bowl) out of the year. I don't care what Willie Taggart thought, UK comes first and always will to me. Plus, we all saw his "true loyalty". Anyhow, it has frustrated me for years that WKU looks like the same old tired school with regards to the uniforms especially. What's crazier is we go back to the silver helmets only for EA Sports to remove the only silver helmet they ever had for WKU!!! It would be nice if we could get those new unis they just unveiled thoughI understand that hey EA isn't going to get everything about every school's stadium, jersey, etc. right. Re: NCAA Football 14 Uniform Update #1 Details, Free DLC Arrives Tomorrow
What makes you think that we should have to choose between gameplay and visuals? To answer your question, it depends on the player. While you obviously don't care if the uniforms are correct, many players do. To some, that is even more important than gameplay flaws. Inaccurate uniforms may not be a deal-breaker for you, but it is for countless other players.

An entirely different team does art direction than gameplay. We aren't dealing with one guy in his basement trying to program all these things. There are multiple groups working to put the game out each year, funded by a 5 billion dollar corporation. Yes, there's no excuse for the many bugs and tuning errors in the game. That doesn't mean that it's irrelevant for teams to have outdated uniforms, numbers on the sleeves and shoulders, fictitious gray facemasks, missing uniforms, logo patches from defunct conferences, or inaccurate fields and stadiums.
Are the gameplay flaws relevant? Absolutely. Do they need to be addressed? No doubt. But uniform errors are also relevant, and judging by the number of comments on the uniform updates thread, one would be hard pressed to accurately label these errors as minutiaeComment

I disagree. Alabama was really down before Saban arrived. Like Not making it to a bowl game/losing record down. Florida hasn't had a losing record since the late 70s.FLORIDA GATORS
