Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
This thread was started because I know I'm not the only one whose wife or girlfriend nags because we all play Xbox or Playstation. For some reason women have a problem with this, and I myself only play a total of 4-5 hours a week. This thread is asking all guys how they deal with their significant other nagging at them while they are playing Xbox or Playstation. I can't wait to see all the different responses.Tags: None -

Re: Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
You have to find common ground. I agree to only play when she is at work, she is a nurse who works night shift 3 days a week. I am able to play after the kids go to bed. I can get in a few games each week. I'm happy because I still get to play now and then, my wife is happy because I don't take away from family time when she is home.
You need to work something out with her. Have set times where you can play a few games while she does something she likes. It is like anything else in a relationship, you have to work together to create some common ground that she finds acceptable.Relax, it's just a video game!Comment

Re: Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
You just have a good one. Priority #1 when finding a gf has to be their gaming tolerance.
I recently found a keeper. My fiance lets me play Xbox without complaints. As mentioned, there are certainly compromises. Go shopping a couple times, watch ABC family every now and then, or even pretend that she is right every once in awhile.
In the end, if you find a girl that does not mind you gaming 5 days a week, marry her. That is my message on the subject.Comment

Re: Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
All jokes aside...I'm in in 40's and have been married and gaming for over 20 years...Its all about balance and respect.
As a husband or good boyfriend you have to find a balance that allows you to spend quality time with your wife, girlfriend, side-piece and family. At the end of the day if your significant other is not happy...You won't be happy. here is a tip...spend real quality time because you want to do it...Don't do it while watching your clock hoping she falls asleep or goes to bed...She will know if your being phony or just trying to appease her...Be real
On the flip side...your wife, girlfriend, side-piece and family needs to RESPECT your choice and interests...If you like to game and that brings you relaxation and enjoyment she needs to respect and support your interest in the hobby you choose. Hell, my wife and I used to play Madden against each other...She sucked but it wasn't about anything other than us doing something together and her taking an interest in something I like just as I do with her interests.
Now with all this being said...Just know that your lady will still want to get into a deep conversation with you on 3rd and 5 yards to go with under 2 minutes in the game...Don't get mad...just roll with it...She will also walk right across the screen mid play...Those are just known hazards.
Fellas...Love your girl, your family and your hobbies...Life is too short. If your with someone who disrespects your choices and hobby then the issue is much bigger than the game so you might want to address those issues in a more serious manner. peaceLast edited by dat swag; 07-24-2013, 04:58 PM.Comment

Re: Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
My wife has no issues with me gaming. I make sure to spend time with her and do things that she wants. She actually likes watching me play games with a good story but hates it when I play sports games.Comment

This may not be an option for some of the younger un-established gamers but I have a media room that is my "Dome"...The family has another dedicated Family/TV room with all the HD trimmings so in those times when the daughter wants to watch Bieber and your tring to online game wif your boy WesleySniper1988...Nobody has to compromise quality surroundings...Just sayinComment

Re: Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
I think it's a different dynamic with a gf compared to a marriage, but here's how I roll...
I've been married almost ten years and have three children. I make sure I take care of all of my responsibilities and only play late at night when the kids are in bed. It's important to me (and my wife) that we get our alone time away from each other and the kids. I remember the days when we were bf/gf and we wanted to spend every waking moment together (or something like that) so it's a little different -- and easier I think -- now that I'm a family man.
Make sure you're putting other priorities ahead of gaming like a real man should and then be straight with her about your need for time to do your "hobbies". She doesn't have to support you by cheering you on, but she should understand and not judge you.Comment

What happens in the Man-Cave,
stays in the Man-Cave.
No reason for the better half to even know how much
time is spent gaming & how much time is spent watching games.Comment
