1-3-1 Defense going forward
What do you think of the 1-3-1 Zone Defense in NBA 2k13? Would you like to see it in 2k14, and in the future NBA 2k games? Or, would you prefer 1-3-1 defense removed from the series entirely? Post your thoughts.

NBA is majority man with the occasional 2-3 zone 3-2 zone.
I've only seen a few teams run other zones.
95-98 Bulls ran a man with Pippen playing the passing lanes.

They don't have to remove anything. Just improve the spacing and people will stop using the zones as their go to defense.Comment

1-3-1 most overpowerd zone in the game too easy to sit in it playing off ball but id just like to have it vastly improved in 2k14 instead of completely getting rid of itComment

Agreed, no need to remove ... also, we need improved pass speed and faster catching animations too, good ball movement shouldnt be beaten by scrambling out of position defenders, nor should slow animations give unfair advantage to defense.
Also, given how Live is claiming to offer signature team defenses, once spacing and the above request of passing and catching are addressed, I would love 2k to add some of the current team defensive sets/schemes.
We certaintly need a huge improvement on defense but not like currently implemented (in 2k13) and I am all in for always having more options, never less, so I dont endorse removal of things, rather improvements and fixes.Comment

Do teams use this defense in the league?
How often is it used?
This game is supposed to recreate what happens in the league.
If it's not in the game, then remove it from the game.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

I agree its actually a terrible zone but some of the flaws in the game that make the zone overpowered like
1. Your teammates cutting right into the defense as soon as you them pass them the ball instead of staying in the open space which causes some very frustrating turnovers.
2. The over staggered catching and bobble animations that allows the defense to recover and steal the ball.
3. The lighting quick recovery speed that allows bigs to cover the paint to the 3 point line.Comment

get rid of it. the way defenders close out on the shooters is ridiculous. & ur teammates are making stupid cuts to the basket. when u pass them the ball

Remove it.
I don't trust 2K to make enough improvements in the game to make the zone ineffective, and even if they did, what would be the point of using 1-3-1 again? Just take it out so quick ranked isn't gutter trash. It was much weaker in 2K11, when players couldn't cover ground like cheetahs.Originally posted by Dogslax41Comment

Aside from the gameplay issues with1-3-1 zone it also annoys me seeing two defenders camping in the paint with no call, even when i don't have anyone inside the 3pt line.

Its not used in the NBA because with the right player movement a team will score almost every possession against it. However, even if the user knows how to beat the zone computer players wont move correctly. IMO until they fix computer off ball movements people will still struggle and complain about the zone. Might as well just take it out no one plays it in the NBA anywayComment
