How do you stop the pistol?

What's the best way to stop the pistol? This dude online keeps running from it and it's dominating in terms of running the ball. If you bring too many guys to stop the run it's easy to beat you with the pass. It's frustrating me.

LOL. But would you say the 4-3 or the 4-2-5 has more of an advantage against the pistol? I ran the 4-3 last game and it seemed like the RB would run right up the middle straight through my defensive line, even though they were bunched together.

I'd put a nickel defense 5 db on the field and run either a zone like cover 3 or a zone blitz where either the safety comes up or blitzes. Also you could spy it but I don't like to use man coverage versus a run happy offense.

well if he was running up the middle I would think having 3 linebackers would be better then 2.

I like the 4-2-5 for my defense. Im running a 4-3 defense in my OSU dynasty cause thats what they run, but when its my create a coach i go 4-2-5 and i stop the run better with it.

it's really a guessing game. because if you are caught blitzing against a pass you are going to get burned with how bad passing d is.. and if you get caught in a pass defense the run game will destroy you. as much as some wont admit you can almost toss x's and o's out the window so far this year against good players.

This pretty much sums up my opinion on the situation. I like how Madden is making defense feel more like offense (or so it seems that way from articles and trailers I've seen online). That's at least a step in the right direction. EA has just made offenses overpowering. One year, they just need to leave the game as is with a few minor tweaks here and there, and focus the gameplay updates and improvements solely on the defensive side of the ball. I understand putting up 40-70 points is fun, but it's not realistic unless you're utilizing Texas Tech or Washington State.

It depends on who you play with. I think the 4-2-5 is a great defense, instead of using the nickel corner you get an extra Safety/ LB hybrid. Honestly, there have been many real-life football articles that mention the decline of standard 4-3 and 3-4 defenses. In college football especially, you need speed on the field, and a Safety should be faster than a LB.

I have to disagree, football is becoming much faster and points are much easier to come by. You shouldn't be expecting madden scores every week in NCAA.

that is true in real life football. but, the game's AI is not capable of using the advantages and disadvantages of defenses

Sucks doesn't it? It's the most effective way I have found in stopping spread offenses though, as those seem to be the sexy pick nowadays
