Re: Madden NFL 25 Videos (Taken by Attendees From Recent Community Event)
I kinda disagree, only because it simply should not be possible for these things to be successful. You should be able to roll right immediately... if you want to get sacked immediately.I wish, for once, gamechangers would post a video of gameplay against All-Madden and not everything on pro difficulty just to showcase how good they are at running around unrealistically and fooling cpu A.I.
I honestly believe those 2 things (a.i. level + "cheesing") really make the game look worse than it really is. I watched this SF-PHI vid and a couple of other vids in this guy's youtube page and the one constant was that..... low cpu awereness/skill + immediate scrambling to the right after every snap.
The game looks great in this video imo, movement is clearly better, and the graphics are really good (for this gen); I just don't think the game is ready to process/handle humans doing things not seen on a football field ---- 15yd dropbacks, QB's sprinting to the right after snap only to throw a crossfield pass to the left-----
Not to give madden devs an excuse on gameplay, but really, the way some humans play the game makes it really hard for CPU AI to represent football stuff.
You should be able to roll off to the right and throw a bullet crossfield... If you wanna see the ball hit the turf or get picked off...
You should be able to bounce every run outside... If you want to get tackled for a loss all the time...
You should be able to drop back 20 yards... If you wanna see your QB throw the ball into the back of his O-Line's head or get chased down by a DE.
(this one really grinds my gears actually... if you drop back 20 yards, you should get caught.. In Madden QBs can drop back faster than they can run... I've honestly been caught my Terrance Cody when trying to run away from him with Sam Bradford, yet Gerald McCoy can't reach Tom Brady when he's dropping back... Thats bullcrap)
The devs cater and allow this cheesy crap by not grounding the game in real physics and for having such poor CPU AI.
Just look at the pursuit angles on the huge run at the end of the 4th QTR play.Comment

These vids don't excite me at all. Looks like 2 years away from Madden for me. I'll stick to NCAA. I'm having fun there.

I hear your point and think it's valid, however.... it's not really realistic imo.I kinda disagree, only because it simply should not be possible for these things to be successful. You should be able to roll right immediately... if you want to get sacked immediately.

No game and no developers in the world will ever account for every possible outcome of every possible movement. That's just impossible because it is a game, not even japanese robots are able to adapt to each and every thing that happens randomly in their environment, they have to be somewhat programmed.
To clarify my point, what your saying would be like some saying they should be able to run to center field while running the bases on MLB the Show; as in, I hit the ball between CF & RF but instead of going for a double I want to run my player into CF.... Now there is no reason why shouldn't be able to do this (and obviously be caught out) but I can't do it in the game, WHY? Because the game is not programmed and can't account for such things.
You can't expect artificial characters to be humans; again, I'm by no means justifying the gameplay EA has produced in this gen, but I do believe the game is programmed thinking people are gonna follow some "basic" football concepts and when humans find exploits (sprinting right....) it is really hard for the game to adjust.
Granted, the success rate of these "cheese" plays should be much much lower than it is in Madden now, but I don't think it should be expected of the game to be prepared for people cheesing like that.
EDIT: I don't want this to be confused with a defense to EA's gameplay... I think it lacks lots of physics/logic principles... but I do believe the way "community events attendees" play the game does have an effect on the way gameplay is represented.Last edited by msdm27; 08-04-2013, 10:04 AM.Comment

I understand what you're saying, but these exploits aren't new and they still work all the time.
I mean literally, all they need to do is put in a parameter for a QB dropback: if within a certain yardage of the LOS, the accuracy is true to ratings... If not? They are put to zero and the throw is wild.
If a certain percentage of plays by a player is a small percentage of their playbook, the success of those plays should be reduced etc.
These are things that can be easily put in to counter act the hallmarks of cheese, yet we see the same exploits every year.
I personally play within a certain set of rules, but CPU AI is so atrocious I can't enjoy single player play, while online leagues, even if sim, will always have debates about what constitutes sim play and what doesn't. Whats also frustrating is that a player may be completely sim during the regular season, but playing them in the playoffs you learn they are youtube players... or know how to play like one, which is already too late.
I understand that you aren't defending them, but I just believe that there are measures EA should take to stop this BS, while SIM play, by inviting true SIM players to their community events too.Comment

I think the big problem is they have no paramaters to set up "AI rules" for this type of actions.... there's no data or evidence to help determine what the success rate of a throw should be when a QB drops back 15+ yds or when QB sprints right for no reason since it doesn't really happen in football, thus making it hard to quantify it or create a formula for this in Madden.
However, at the same time I feel like I'm giving EA too much credit by thinking they've tried to set up limits for this cheese play but have been limited by the lack of data to do so. LOLComment

You sim guys have to understand that this game isn't made for you.
Just look at the players they choose as gamechangers. It's not about them coming to make a better game for sim players its about bringing in popular YouTube personnel to put up cheesy videos for other cheesy players. It's all PR people. Next gen will be no different. Just watch next gen video from e3 look at the animations they are the exact same as current gen you know why because
THEY ARE USING THE SAME ENGINE from this gen and just slapping ignite engine on top of it.SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

Actions speck louder then words.

Don't know why they don't think sim will not sell to casuals, they should know from other sports titles that sim sells.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 25 Videos (Taken by Attendees From Recent Community Event)
Madden has never been a sim game. That's why I don't get all up in arms.
It's Madden. It's a hybrid game. Sometimes they make really good ones (2005,2007 last gen and 2010 and 2012 this gen) and sometimes they make stinkers (First one for PS was sub par, 2001 was sub par for PS2 launch) and all the debacles this gen (2013 was one of those debacles).
M25 to me....looks like it will be probably the best this gen will have to offer. And if they get it right...it will be a good Madden game.
I like playing a functional Madden game and M13 was dysfunctional to the max. M12 was very functional and still is a solid title.
If you know what Madden has been....and will always be your expectations will be far lower and you may just enjoy the game.
It's fun to play IMO most of the time when things work as they should.
When I want sim football.....well we know where that's going. Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1

In their eyes they are happy playing the middle.
No matter what they feel like madden Is doing good numbers for them so there is no reason to switch it up. Going straight sim will turn off a lot of hardcore casuals. Going straight sim would require a lot of under the hood stuff that take a lot of time to fix. I am hardcore sim. Just not going to complain about a game that is not made for me.SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS
