    Kick Return Success

I have a question for those playing NCAA Football 14 (and Madden too)...

Has anyone noticed that kick returns are generally more successful on the left side versus the right? (I'm talking from the RETURNER's perspective.)

I've noticed that most, if not all, of the return TDs I've seen have been on the left side - and this applies to me and my opponents. I've seen maybe one or two up the middle, but can't remember one on the right.

    Just wondering...

Come to think of it, I think I've gotten all of mine on the left too.

All of mine have been to the left. But I have broke a couple to the right that were caught between the 50 and the 10. Not nearly as many though.

Most of mine have been on the right. 3 on the left and around 6 on the right.

Middle is really tough, both sides are way too easy if your return guy is fast

Yeah, I may have seen a couple to the right that I can't remember, but I've seen way more success on the left.

Something else I've noticed too - on the left side, I see the blockers straight destroying the defense downfield. On the right side? Not so much.

I run to the side that the ball is kicked, but dating back to the beginning of NCAA/Maddden time, Ive only had big returns to the left. Im much more comfortable running the ball to the left as well, so I think that has something to do with it for me personally, as well.

If the CPU has success against me, its generally straight up the middle after a broken tackle.

I always run right up the middle, otherwise its too easy and I win returner of the year every season.

Left here as well. And the more I think... I'm pretty sure I've never returned one going right.

On kickoffs, yes the left is easier. Punt returns I've had about equal success. Typically starting one side and cutting back the other way.

I'm a solid 14 games in my offline dynasty as Auburn (ranked #1, in SEC championship game *sorry, minor brag that is good for me) and about 13 games online but I've yet to break a return all the way.

I've returned 4 on the left side within their 10, and a bunch more between their 50 and their 20.

Have only had 1 good return to the right, and it is actually a better return man.

Have had pretty decent success right and left side with an occasional ok return up the middle. But in 6 seasons now (2 as OC for SJSU, 2 as HC for Louisville and the last 2 as HC for USC) only 1 returned for a TD.

Yep. All you need is a quick returner and one good block on the side and you can return it. I have returned 2 with Burroughs on Boise State that way. One to win the game!

I think the left side success is a function of the players the CPU chooses to put in the kick return and kick coverages in the default formation. It probably goes through some algorthm to find out who the best blockers are and starts on the left side. The kick coverage team probably also looks for the best players for coverage starting on the left. Therefore your best blockers are facing their worst coverage guys by default. If you formation sub and move some of these guys around you can probably get better success returning to the right.
