See, that's the thing--even with the simcade, maybe I can make it slightly more sim if the sliders work and so on, but for the love of everything sacred, please stop putting out titles that have glaring bugs. They can make sure all this microtransaction BS works, but heaven forbid they have to fix glaring issues within the game itself. QA, QA, QA please.

I have hope for next gen Madden, but it is predicated on 3 things.

This true step locomotion has to absolutely, undeniably and unquestionably remove the effectiveness of zig zag running. You should simply not be able to do it. I these videos you can see that while the animations look better when running, with a wiggle of the LEFT stick you can still shake of pursuing defenders or more effectively juke out an oncoming defender.
On next gen, if I even try to do that I need my player to slow down entirely and be tackled with ease. He should really pull an acl or something lol but whatever.
If they can't even realistically represent that and entirely fix that, how can we have faith in DB//WR interactions?

Other things I will look at will be if ratings matter. If a 97 speed CB covers just as well as or better than an 88 speed 99 MCV CB. This will remain the same game I get sick of. If my OL all rated in the 70s blocks just as efficiently as a 90 over OL then there is no actual hope for a sim madden.

The third thing I will look for is whether the option will be the unstoppable mess it looks like it is now on current gen and whether I want to deal with every run play being a read option, and whether it is still as effective with Sam Bradford or Andy Dalton as it should be with RG III.

This is a very simple litmus test to see if my faith in this dev team is founded in anything but my own desire for a realistic football game.
Blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground.

No, and people have to understand his perspective has changed because of what the devs have told him and what they are going to do in the future, not neccesarily because of what he saw on current gen. The game is still going to look like "Madden" on current gen, I think most of us already knew that before it was even made. We are at the end of the console's lifespan and they simply were not going to make huge changes now, when they can just focus on making the best game possible on next gen so we don't have to suffer through years of mediocrity once next gen Madden is released.

All I know is that if these guys deliver on their promises many of you will be shocked by how good next gen Madden will be in the next several years to come. Madden 25 on next gen, will just be the tip of the iceberg. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they address WR/DB interactions based on what Rex Dickson said about them. They plan to take a whole development cycle to work on them. Just like they did with O/D line interactions and blocking on next gen M25. You should expect to see a much better war in the trenches on next gen M25, double team pass blocking will be better than we've ever seen it in a football game.

Taking what Smashman stated to heart, I don't want to turn this thread into the usual back and forth, so I want to ask everyone something.

What is your expectation for M25 on the new consoles, in relation to how different it should viscerally be to M25 on the current consoles? Meaning, deep analysis aside, what experience do you expect or want to get from M25 on the new consoles, something completely better than any other football game ever or just the best "Madden" ever?

With all the improvements being touted for new consoles, I perhaps naively, want to see M25 on new consoles be a completely different game. I admittedly don't know squat about game design but with all the talk about ghost teams and years of preparation for this new console gen, I would think this Ignite Engine collabo should revolutionize football gaming, even in the first year. However, what I expect or am concerned about is that the Ignite Engine, like the Infinity Engine before it, will be used to enhance the same ole Madden on new consoles.

I get the impression that alot of people, Weber, Sim Standard, Moody, some EAGCs, etc want a realism focus but the underline belief behind the football games still seems to be "realistic to a point". I watched a video from Ryan Moody the other night and I got the impression he realizes we won't/can't ever get what we want or expect from Tiburon in a football video game for whatever reason but should to try to make the best of it. It's a mature and reasonable position to take but disappointing nonetheless at what we are stuck with.

Your own post implies that new console Madden should eventually be better over the years but I don't see how that's different from now. I don't doubt that this new team will do more with improved consoles and tech but the game might still be an incomplete arcade-sim hybrid mess. Playing video games is visceral, I know whether I like what I'm playing or not, by playing it, so anyone can say whatever they want about the intentions of Tiburon but when I play Madden or see videos of it, I think of Madden, not NFL football. I have had that same hands on impression of this game for as long as I can remember and I think that's what Tiburon wants.

It has been asked time and time again, why would anyone need to go tell devs how to make realistic football games? They wouldn't, if Tiburon was trying to prioritize realism the game would reflect it, period. Instead there is all kinds of politics, marketing or whatever bs going on around EA Tiburon and Madden, that frankly, I don't think the Ryan Moodys and Sim Standards of the world would give an eff about, if not for the NFL exclusive. Meaning, if there was other choices, some company would be filling the realism void for a realistic NFL football game and those guys wouldn't care less what EA Tiburon did with Madden, nor would most sim gamers.

I understand that those guys are just making the best of an unfortunate situation, in relation to football gaming but the bottomline for me towards Tiburon is, if EA wants a realistic complete NFL football on the level with The Show and NBA2k, then that's what they will make and it won't take years. However they haven't, to this point, so it is what it is.
The newest post of the year right here. Couldn't find anything I needed to add to this. Bravo my friend.

Yeah even though that footage was really early, the game animated and moved exactly like current gen. I thought with the big increase in animation fidelity, and all the 50 times contextual animations, the game would look light years better even in its early stages. The same short disjointed animations and robotic movements were all still present. I can't say that that isn't troubling.

I'm still curious about the long intro into games, in some night games its in and others it wasn't. Where their two different builds at this event like at E3? So far the presentation and the stadiums sounds are still putting madden on my radar. Really hope Buffalo didn't get ignored yet again this year.

I don't want to go too far based off what little we saw, but I certainly see where you're coming from. The story will be told in a few short months.

I will say that my expectations have been tempered a bit though. I'm just not convinced that [for one example] the same guys who have bastardized the presentation in current gen are going to be 100% committed to it next gen. It's been almost 10 years since we've had GREAT presentation in a NFL game.

In addition, having listened to the Sim Perspective radio show last week, I sorta heard the lyrics to the same old song: "Remember this is year one on a new console, they're going to need time." And that's NOOOOO slight on my guys. Kudos to them for trying to set expectations. But I was hoping we would be able to turn the page on that mindset as we approached next gen. I got the vibe that we're still going to be trotting along year after year.

At some point, I think we all will have to embrace Big's thinking in this thread (including myself). If they wanted to make a simulation game with ALL the bells and whistles, it would be done. FIFA completely reinvented itself (as I understand it) in a 2-3 year period. I think the NHL franchise underwent a similar transition. While football is an entirely different sport, there's gonna come a time where we have to understand that Tiburon is going to make the kind of football game THEY want to make. And they have.

In saying all of that, it's beginning to be hard to conceive that Tiburon is setting out to make an authentic simulation of the NFL. If they were committed to sim gameplay, why is the default game speed always so fast?

Regardless of how good/bad it turns out, M25 on XBOXOne/PS4 should tell the story of where this franchise is headed. Like I said a few months ago, I'm not spending another console generation attempting to see the forest through the trees. It's been too long. With the regressions in the last year & change, I feel like my Madden 10 wishlist is just as relevant as it was five years ago.

I've been wondering the same thing. My guess is it is for next generation. Whether that means they have improved penalties in next gen, or it is purely a presentation addition remains to be seen.
