8-4 Regular Season with No Bowl Game?

I just wanted to check out of curiosity to see if anyone else has encountered this. Last night, in an offline dynasty, I finished a regular season 8-4. I was playing as Tulane. I didn't get a bowl bid, even though (after checking bowl results) at-least 12 teams finished 6-6 and got in. Mind you, I didn't just have a cupcake schedule. I beat Ohio State (who was ranked #3 at the time) and USC (ranked #13 at the time) and narrowly lost to Alabama. I'm just trying to see if anybody has experienced anything similar.

Side Note: Even though I finished the regular season unranked, we ended up ranked #21 after the bowl games, so obviously we had a few votes for Top 25 entering bowl season.

Were you playing as Louisiana Tech by any chance?

Not quite the same situation. I'm doing a teambuilder dynasty with Eastern Kentucky and went 7-5 the first year without a bowl invite. I was kind of glad though. I'm playing as an independent the first 2 years to try and simulate the actual transition from FCS to FBS, so, in real life, they wouldn't be eligible anyhow.

tbf having an winning record in a non-bcs conference school doesn't guarantee a bowl game in real life either. (Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky)

the bowls have agreements with conferences.

where did you finish in the C-usa?

From your OOC wins it sounds like you dropped 3 games in conference? That can be enough to keep you out of a bowl game in the CUSA. Those 6-6 teams probably got automatic conference bids.

I won the conference 3 straight years with Tulane and went to the freaking Liberty Bowl all 3 times. Bowl games are tough to come by in CUSA.

It's because the Liberty bowl is the autobid for the C-USA champ, unless they manage to bust the BCS.

I feel ya though. I went to two straight with Marshall, both after 11-win seasons, and felt very unfulfilled. It's the biggest reason why I left for Udub, even though I moved Marshall to the AAC in 2016.

What!!! No way! I wish I knew that before.

Me and my friend made a bet on which bowl game he would go to in his UCF dynasty after he won the C-USA. He sat there all smug and picked liberty bowl and didn't even seem that surprised when he saw he had 'guessed' correctly, but now I know he knew it all along! That son of a..

Didn't realize I didn't mention I was independent which (at least on this game normally) tends to trump the conference thing.
