Knicks select Michigan's Tim Hardaway Jr. as 24th pick in the NBA draft
(New York) - The Knicks selected Tim Hardaway Jr., the son of a bitter rival, with the 24th pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft with an eye on possibly losing Smith to free agency next month. Hardaway is an athletic 6-6 shooting guard who provides the club with insurance in the event that the club can’t match any lucrative offer Smith receives on the open market.
“The way we looked at it we were getting the best player available,” Knicks GM Glen Grunwald said last night. “Secondly, we wanted someone who could contribute next year and the third criteria was filing a need on our team.

Sources: Beno Udrih signs with Knicks
The New York Knicks signed free-agent point guard Beno Udrih, the team announced Thursday.
The deal is for one year at $1.27 million, sources told ESPN.com.
Udrih will back up starter Raymond Felton along with veteran guard Pablo Prigioni, who re-signed with the Knicks earlier this summer. Udrih will fill the spot on the roster vacated by Jason Kidd, who retired to become the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets.
"Beno is a solid addition to our backcourt where he will give us more depth and flexibility," Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald said. "He is a talented and experienced floor general who brings championship experience to our locker room."
The lefty Slovenian played well for the Orlando Magic at the end of last season after he was acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 10.2 points and 6.1 assists in 27 games for the Magic. Overall in 66 games in Milwaukee and Orlando, the nine-year veteran averaged 8.2 points and 4.6 assists on 44 percent shooting.

Report: Metta World Peace agrees to deal with Knicks
(New York) - World Peace and the Knicks came to terms on a two-year deal with the first year guaranteed, a league source told ESPNNewYork.com's Ian Begley. The team did not disclose terms of the deal.
The deal is worth approximately $1.6 million per season with a player option for Year 2, the source said, adding that the Knicks used the remainder of their mini-midlevel exception to sign the former Laker.
"I don't care if I'm starting, or sweeping the floors. You hear me? I want to win," he said. According to the amnesty provision of the current collective bargaining agreement, the Lakers will owe World Peace $7.3 million in the coming season.
"Metta is a fierce competitor who brings toughness and championship experience to our roster," Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald said. "We are excited to bring him back to New York and give him a chance to play for the team he grew up rooting for."
World Peace said that he and Knicks star Carmelo Anthony would be able to "help each other."
"It's not about one person helping one person. It's about us doing it together," he said. "And they have that -- if I'm not mistaken. They have chemistry, and everybody's a teammate."

Great start so far! I am really looking forward to seeing what Tim Hardaway Jr. can do in your rotation. If you plan to bring JR Smith off of the bench as the 6th man like in real life, then maybe Hardaway Jr can work his way into the starting lineup. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
Solid addition in Beno Udrith too. Udrith will give you quality minutes while Felton is out, and you can't beat quality for a cheap price.

Breaking: Knicks go all-rebuilding mode as they turn around their roster as they are tanking for Andrew Wiggins. They trade away Melo, Amar'e, Felton and Chandler all in separate deals.
(New York) - The New York Knicks have decided to do a MAJOR blowup to the team. They traded Felton to the Sixers, Amar'e to the Suns, Melo(yes Melo) to the Hawks, and Tyson Chandler to the Jazz ALL in just one day! The media and fans have been shocked with this trade. After losing 5 straight games in December, they have started to go rebuilding mode. They also have chose to tank for Kansas star SF Andrew Wiggins in the 2014 NBA Draft.

And now here we are to Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless on ESPN First Take
Cari Champion: Stephen and Skip, what do you think about the Knicks rebuilding and on the mega trades?
Bayless: WHAT THE HELL WERE THE KNICKS DOING?!??!? They blew up their roster to acquire scrubs. They were a contending team. Last year they were a 2nd seed, and now they choose to rebuild??
Smith: Skip, calm your butt down. As I am working for 17 years as an insider, I understand rebuilding. Knicks traded Felton, Melo, Ama're, and Chandler to 4 different teams. That's 80% of the starting lineup. But I see what they're doing here, they are tanking to get Wiggins. I understand that. Spurs tanked for Duncan in the 96-97 season, and then they suddenly starting doing well in the 97-98 season.
Bayless: I don't care, a Second seed rebuilding??!! In NY?! NY is a big city, you know.
Smith: Still, many teams want Wiggins. He is the next Lebron. Besides the Knicks have cap space in 2014. So they can sign players in the FA.
Bayless: Well i guess it was a good idea for trading Melo, Amare, Felton, and Tyson to get contract off the books. But they gotta trade Barg. He's horrible. Only averaging 7 points per game with 4 rebounds per game.
Smith: Yea, I agree Barg needs to leave. With him leaving, Knicks can have more cap space. They took a big risk of acquiring Barg, and Barg didn't pan out.
Bayless: Who will take Barg?
Smith: If anyone wanna take a risk, or they can buy him out for less money.
Cari Champion: We will be right back tomorrow about more NBA news. Goodnight America!

Report: Enes Kanter has been traded; heading to Detroit for Drummond
(New York) - Enes Kanter is going to a 3rd team in his 3rd year. He hasn't requested any trade, and is always happy on what team he is on. The Knicks traded Enes Kanter and a protected future first round pick for Andre Drummond and Peyton Siva as the Knicks are going to make Drummond the face of the Knicks. Though, Drummond requested a trade after him and teammate Greg Monroe got into a fight in the locker room. Them two haven't talked in 5 days. They don't like sharing rebounds and don't want to be together. If Pistons didn't trade Drummond, then they would have bad chemistry. Drummond was going to be the face of the Pistons, but he had to go because of Monroe. Drummond has been known for good IQ and for being mature, and he is a lot potential ahead of him. The Knicks think they got a steal in getting Drummond, but also Kanter has a lot of potential like Drummond, too.
Re: Rebuilding the New York Knicks: NBA 2K13 Association
Sources: Knicks get rid of Bargnani's huge contract, trade him in a 3-team deal.
(New York) - The New York Knicks have made another trade in their rebuilding process. They traded C/PF Andrea Bargnani and PF/C Arnett Moultrie to the Suns, the Suns sent Marcin Gortat to the Cavaliers, and the Cavaliers sent Anderson Varejao to the Knicks. Varejao will wear #16 because #17 is taken by Schroeder. Varejao wore #16 in the Euroleage with FC Barcelona. Note that Varejao's contract is expiring which will benefit the Knicks.
