This seems to be a bug attached to new coaches or newly added coaches. I have the same bug in my OD, but with OC and DC. When my OC and DC were switched in and out at the end of the season it reset their points to 0, even though they were rank 15-20. So I had to wait until 10 games into the season to get even 1 point to invest in them.
