Re: Europa Universalis IV
I'm looking at an iMac desktop. The models I'm looking at only have 1 option for video card, which has 512MB of video memory. I'm not a big PC gamer, but wouldn't mind picking this one up.Comment

Re: Europa Universalis IV
OS:Mac OS X 10.6.8 or better
Processor:Intel Core Duo Processor (2GHz or better)
Memory:2 GB RAM
Graphics:ATI Radeon HD 6750 / NVIDIA GeForce 320 / NVIDIA GeForce 9600 or higher, 1024MB graphics memory required
It's not looking like it'd work, but I can't recommend buying a computer in a different price bracket for one game in particular. The graphics cards it's calling for aren't very high end though. I'm assuming replacing a graphics card in a MAC would be the same as a PC, and it'd only cost about $20 for a 320, the 630 I have is in the $150 range.
Honestly for Paradox games, CPU and Ram are the big things, but it's sounded like they overhauled the graphics for this game.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: Europa Universalis IV
can't say for sure if it'll work. I think CKII had the same requirements and I've seen people using an iMac with a 512mb videocard and it worked, but that is just people over the internet, so who knows if they are telling the truth.Comment

Re: Europa Universalis IV
My Poland game after about 23 years.
I'm leading a personal union with Lithuania, so they are like an ally, with a chance to be integrated into my country each time my ruler dies, although Poland my be the exception to that rule because of one of their national decisions.
I've diplo-annexed one of my Vassals, Mazovia, and in the process of diplo-annexing Moldavia.
I was allied with Pomerania, and help then in a war, they have since broke the alliance though.
I attacked the Teutonic Order and took 3 provinces, Danzig, Chelmno, and Ponzan. I had to give Ponzan to the HRE as they claimed it and I got an event that had them ask for it, and I didn't want to piss off the HRE nations, I was already disliked after attacking Teutonic Order.
I plan to finish off Teutonic Order once the truce period ends. from there, I'll probably lay back for a while and tech up and improve economy.Comment

Re: Europa Universalis IV
The individual units on the map represents 1000 troops, and the battles visually look like they do in the Civilization series(the unit model just hit each other, the outcome is simulated based on multiple stats).
the demo is on steam to try out.Comment

Re: Europa Universalis IV
I can't really recommend Civ if you're big on combat, as times the randomness is moronic. (I.E. helicopters losing to swordsmen)
I haven't gotten a chance to load up EUIV yet, but I know that past Paradox games do a good job of progression and making every choice matter to some degree.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: Europa Universalis IV
got to 1480 AD. doesn't look like I did much on the map, but I've done quite a bit.
first got a mission to subjugate Teutonic order(make them my vassal). so I risked going to war with them despite them being allied to Hungary. I hoped that my army plus Lithuania's army would be enough. Luckily Hungary just got out of a war with Bohemia, so they didn't join in. Livonian Order did, but they didn't provide much of a fight as they were recently in a war. I also diplomatically annexed Moldavia(my 2 provinces in the south eastern part next to Crimea).
so now I control my Polish lands, lead a personal union with Lithuania(they are basically like a vassal), and have Teutonic Order as a vassal.
after the war, I picked up Brandenburg as an ally and Surprisingly, Livonian Order also wanted to ally even though we just got out of a war against each other. so basically the entire baltic region are united together.
Livonian Order went to war with what is left of Novgorod. I accepted their call to war, but I haven't sent any troops. I just let Lithuania and Teutonic Order send their troops to support. Muscovy looks scary though.
I've converted a few provinces in my south that started out as Orthodox. I cored the 2 provinces I took from the first war against Teutonic Order. I also changed the culture of Danzig to Polish(from Prussian), now that it is the biggest money maker province in my kingdom.
my King died, but luckily his heir was better. I'm now getting 8/9/8 per month for the Admin/Diplo/Military power points.
around the world, Scotland looks to be taking over England. Hungary in trouble against the Ottomans. Castile should be close to forming Spain. Tuscany taking out Naples.Comment

Re: Europa Universalis IV
Started a game as the Teutonic Order, six years later Lithuania and Poland wiped me from the earth. So I started a 2nd game as Creek and thought I'd bring together the nations and so I made the Cherokee my vassal and annexed the Shawnee. Things went smooth for 60 some years, can't do alot when ideas cost 1500 points, then the Portugal landed on the beach.
My 20k stack was no match for 6k stack with guns and they relieved me of 1950 gold and went home. So now its 1517 and I have a navy to keep Portugal and Spain at bay as I turn my army toward the Huron.Comment

Re: Europa Universalis IV
Was lucky to get the game downloaded on dodgy WiFi while travelling. Now I can't get the manual cause I need to be online. Anyone gone through it? Worth a trip to a cafe for?
Already on my second game as the Brits. Started a trial game as the Ottomans and had so many uprisings it was ridiculous. I am use to making big money in CK2 so being broke in this was a quick reminder to watch your funds.Comment

Re: Europa Universalis IV
I'm playing as Riga, and I'm off to a really strong start (admittedly on an easy difficulty). It was a little difficult at the start, but I made a preemptive attack (having been told that a nation that surrounded me on all sides had been caught finding a casus belli) and from there on, I've done more than enough to start chugging away at those around me, and making an ally out of the stronger nations does a hell of a lot.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|
