More like "disappointed"???
After the first half "Kolb Job" stink (and boo) fest, most figured it was EJ's job from that point forward...
This means we're stuck with some mo' Kolb, possibly into the regular season...Comment

Re: Official Buffalo Bills Thread
Yeah, initial reports are saying he'd probably be questionable for the season opener. I would think he won't start regardless now. That would be pretty tough to throw him out there against Tom Brady for his first start without practicing.NFL: Bills

Re: Official Buffalo Bills Thread
Let us be honest here, neither QB will be tasked to do much, like we did with Fitzy. The gameplan will be run it down their throats, and throw some short to intermediate throws.
Hope our defense will be able to slowdown Brady. Thanks to LBzrules: So these threads won't be forever lost.

I have more faith in Fitz being able to read a defense with practice than Manuel, who still hasn't proven to be able to get past his first read, without practice. I think it would get ugly very quickly if he goes out there without practicing.
But we'll see what happens. Maybe he'll heal quickly and we won't have to worry about it.NFL: Bills

Re: Official Buffalo Bills Thread
Personally, Kolb should start Week One unless he completely flames out the rest of the way. Manuel looks serviceable but he hasn't quite got the handle of reading his progressions. At least from what i've seen Kolb had more free reign to throw the ball around so that adds a little dexterity to the offense but I don't trust him. He's a younger, more injury prone version of Fitzy.
On the other hand if the defense looks anything close to the way they did against the Vikings than the Bills have a shot to at least be in most of their games.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Twist, Jeff Tuel out performs Kolb in preseason, starts week one, wins, never looks back.Personally, Kolb should start Week One unless he completely flames out the rest of the way. What do you guys think of WR Hogan? He has been making some solid plays. Possibly a Josh Reed type receiver? Thanks to LBzrules: So these threads won't be forever lost.

Re: Official Buffalo Bills Thread
Personally, I LOVE when this kind of thing happens in sports...
Can anybody think of a similar situation, where a UDFA QB came out of nowhere to beat out a 1st rounder and a veteran?Comment

I think Kolb is gonna win the spot, but if ever a staff would start a UDFA like Tuel, it's this staff. I think they're going to go with whoever is the best and gives the best chance of winning, not who has the most experience like many coaches would be comfortable going with.
It was definitely Manuel's spot to lose, even if he's not totally prepared. I believe he's shown enough in just two games to warrant starting and learning than sitting and studying. I often like the let the rookie learn from the bench approach, but Manuel seems very cerebral already, and I think he mostly just needs to play to show whether he belongs or not. Plus, he just has an excitement to his game that the Bills haven't seen from a QB in... Maybe ever? He's not a runner, but he can make some escape artist plays and I don't recall any QB's we've had who can do that. Seems we've tried everything but this type of QB in the decade and a half we've missed the playoffs. It's refreshing and new and exciting and I'm totally on board after being kinda pissed when we selected him so high. I've accepted that he's going to be our franchise QB for better or worse, so I'm loving his abilities instead of hating any flaws he may have. To hear that he's hungry to be great has certainly made me a believer and a backer of the Manuel for QB campaign.
All that said, being able to study the preseason and maybe a few regular season games could be best. If whoever starts for us isn't performing, I don't think getting only 12 or 10 starts is that bad a thing for Manuel. Would give him time to learn what not to do from above and removed from the action.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Even if Tuel supplants Manuel and Kolb, he probably wouldn't remain the coaching staffs long-term answer. He'd start a bit and then Manuel would be given the job eventually. Looking forward to these next two games and how the QB competition further develops.

Re: Official Buffalo Bills Thread
But in my hypothetical scenario Tuel outplays those two with an Andrew Luck type rookie season. That was how absurd the hypothesis was.Even if Tuel supplants Manuel and Kolb, he probably wouldn't remain the coaching staffs long-term answer. Also, I think the post three behind this regarding Manuel is a bit overreaction. Manuel is still incredibly raw and with regards to being able to run, both Losman and Fitzy could run well for a QB.Thanks to LBzrules: So these threads won't be forever lost.

Re: Official Buffalo Bills Thread
Can't think of anyone offhand that fits that bill. The closest would be Russell Wilson though he was drafted. I do believe he was a bit discounted due to his size. It's the only parallel i've got!
I agree with the sentiment that this coaching staff is the one most likely to pull off a move like that but Manuel is the long term answer unless as you further elaborated Tuel has an Andrew Luck type season. Personally, I just don't see it. Tuel is performing quite well i'll grant you that but it could just as easily turn into fool's gold the way Matt Flynn and Kevin Kolb have turned into in their careers.
Flynn was looked at as a future franchise QB stuck behind Rodgers and we've seen he's nothing close to that and Kolb looked like he had a decent future in Philly so they exploited that and traded him away and he fell off the map.
I'd be a little wary over having a man crush on Tuel just now.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

See?
The Bevis and Butthead dialog just kind of writes itself...

For me, it's less of an infatuation with Tuel, it's more about how Kolb (and the thankfully long gone T. Jax) consistently infuriates me...
I'd take that bath mat over Kolb any day...Comment
