Load Times In NHL 14
Has there been any talk of what we're looking at for load times for NHL 14? NHL 13 was painfully slow. Or are people simply going to have to wait until NHL 15 when it takes advantage of the processers in the next gen systems?Dallas Stars - New York Giants - Vancouver Giants -Tags: None -
Re: Load Times In NHL 14
I was wondering the same thing.
I've bought NHL on the 360 every year its come out.
My 360 died a few months back, and I don't feel like buying a new one with the next gen systems right around the corner. I purchased NHL 13 for PS3, and its insane how long the load times are when compared to the 360 version.
I consider myself a fairly patient person, but its unbearable at times how long it takes to load things.
Just curious if this has always been the case? -

Am I the only one who didn't notice anything out of the ordinary about load times in NHL 13? Loaded about as quickly as any other sports game I've played...University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Is that just a PS3 issue? I never remember noticing load times anywhere close to that in my Be a GMUniversity of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: Load Times In NHL 14
Long loading times on the PS3 had to do with the fact that the game was ported over from the Xbox360 version. I assume NHL 14 will suffer from this as well but nextgen consoles should offer a relief since it'll be much easier to port games on them, something to do with the similar processor architecture I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong.Comment

Re: Load Times In NHL 14
I play on the PS3 and I too thought all of the wait times were long. Simming to get to your next game seemed to take a couple minutes. Editing your lines and even changing jersey numbers just seemed to take 'too' long.
Can't they do something similar to MLB The Show and offer a 10GB install to quicken things?

Re: Load Times In NHL 14
The PS3 is notoriously slow with NHL, from FPS to loading to sim screens. I've owned the game on both and the 360 runs MUCH more smoothly than the PS3. The only thing they mentioned they enhanced was the Connected GM not having to load every 2 seconds and making that more bearable, although the mode is still crap. Other than that there is no new additions to loading.I play on the PS3 and I too thought all of the wait times were long. Simming to get to your next game seemed to take a couple minutes. ive played nhl on both consoles since 07.
the only time the ps3 version was choppier was the first year it was on ps3. i think that was nhl 08.
the only problem with the ps3 version now is the simulation speed. its painfully slow. its the worst its even been on ps3.
its so slow, i play every game instead of simming ahead inthe season. ive never done that before.Comment

Re: Load Times In NHL 14
I couldn't disagree with that assessment more.
I've played NHL extensively on both consoles
the past few years.
The load times to do just about anything
in NHL 13(and 12) on PS3 are vastly different
than those on 360. It's unbearable at times.
From just playing an exhibition game, to BAP,
getting online, and especially trying to play
any of the moments scenarios.
So what's the verdict this year? For those that have
it. Any better on PS3?Comment

Been over to a friend that have the season pass early access and tried out the GM Mode. It takes approx 2½ minutes to sim through a month. But it varies but not by much that you could call it slow. Im really happy about the GM Mode this year. Overall the whole interaction in the mode is very quick. No more sluggish controls while in Scouting Assignment because of many draftees etc. Stats loads very fast. Trading is hard but realistic. I think there have been some changes to the scouting as well.
It is so much better.Comment

Re: Load Times In NHL 14
Awesome. Thank you.
Would you say your assessment holds up for overall loading times?
Its cool they fixed it for the people that sim a bunch of games and whatnot.
However, my concern lies with the overall load times, and menu screens.
As I said. The past two years there has been a huge disparity in those times from the PS3 to the 360 version. That alone will be my deciding factor this year.Comment

I would say yes. The menus are fluid and quick. Everything feels very responsive. Saving a game for example is very fastAwesome. Thank you.
