M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I have been playing Madden ever since Madden 64 on the N64. I have always picked a team for my franchise who had a quality pocket passing quarterback. With the new wave/generation of quarterbacks in the league now, I am unsure if I want to stay with pocket passing quarterbacks or go with the dual-threat mobile quarterback and run the fun spread option offense. I was wondering what everyone's plans in regards to who your quarterback will be and why with Madden 25 release less than a month away.Tags: None -
Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
Nope still going with a pocket passer, dont want my QB taking hits all year. I will be taking the Dolphins in my online CC and will try and trade Tannehill for either Mathew Stafford, Jay Cutler, or any other QB with a high throw power. -
Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I always prefer mobile QBs because I scramble and (unnecessarily) move out the pocket a lot. And it's just more fun than playing with a statue.Comment

Love playing with Romo cause he does a bit of both.Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira - UFC Hall of FameComment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I've used a bit of both and IMO the injuries are a little too frequent for me to be comfortable with a running passer.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I like the Aaron Rodgers type. Pocket passer but has good enough speed to run when needed. But I look for pocket passers when drafting. So traditional pocket passer for me.NHL: Chicago Blackhawks
NFL: Green Bay Packers
NCAA: Wisconsin Badgers
Soccer: Manchester United/Real Madrid/AS Roma/Lyon/Bayern Munich/Chicago FireComment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I usually like you enjoy a pocket passer. But in my CFM I started with the Bills because I wanted to move them to Brooklyn.
But anyway back to this thread. I have been playing with E.J Manuel and its been awesome. He can run but I barely ever run except on bootlegs or an occasional zone read, but he is a solid pocket passer and I think that's most important.
I wouldn't go with someone who is just a scrambler but one who is a pocket passer who can run a bit. Like RG III, or Kaepernick, or Manuel, or even Cam Newton and work on his accuracy with experience from games.

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I always ran with pocket passers but as a Skins fan, what choice did I have as I stuck with the real rosters other than drafting later on as well as free agency. With RGIII now though, I have the best of both worlds. He can pocket pass or leave you in the dust. I don't think its a stretch to say he becomes the best QB on the game.Comment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I don't scramble much because I feel like in the time it takes me to look down at the pocket and see if there's a running lane, I could have found someone downfield. I find this preferrable because an open receiver is a lot more likely to stay open than it is for a running lane to stay open. The DL tends to break off their blocks as soon as I start to scramble.
To the people that use mobile QBs: What's your technique for scrambling? Do you read 2 guys, and run if they're not open? Do you just look to scramble whenever you feel like it? I'm curious to know how you guys incorpoate the run game without sacrificing too much attention downfield.Originally posted by Kaiser Wilhelmthere should not be ties occurring in the NFL except when neither team wins the game.Comment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I like Mobile and Scramble QB. Im using the Arizona Cardinals and with low pass blocking OLine i have to hurry and get a pass off quickly so i use Drew Stanton every other play he has decent speed unlike Carson Palmer lack of speed and accuracy so when you have a QB like that starting for you then you have to result to a back up QB like Drew were hes faster and decent accuracyComment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
Ever since the days of playing Madden on my original PlayStation, I have always PREFERRED a mobile qb to a pocket passer. The Eagles & the Falcons were my go-to teams for most of the 2000s.Comment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
I have always gone with a pocket passer because whenever i have used a mobile quarterback, the tendency to fumble has negated any advantage to running with the quarterback. I like to throw downfield, so my preference is a strong arm quarterback with the ability to throw on the run. A mobile quarterback tends to roll out too fast and run out of room.Comment

Re: M25: Mobile vs. Pocket Quarterbacks
Im four games into my Chise. I went with the colts for 3 reasons. Young Qb and RB, uniforms and just to have fun lol. I like Luck cause he seems to be able to get out of the pockets when there is some trouble.Comment
